Music videos could probably make a comeback due to videos such as Not Like Us. I hope that’s the case because I miss the era of music videos getting a lot of views. they got a lot of views because people used them to stream the songs like regular audio as well (as best as they could, depending on how well the mv allowed for that). but since regular audio is better for that, mv's will never be back to their mid-2010s peak. what you see on the views numbers now is closer to the "unique" views count - i bet if you could see unique views on 2010s mv's their views would be way smaller and similar to what we see now. |

Lies x3 did have zero promotion and had a full live version on YouTube with 20M views already, so not much built-up demand. If he TikTok-hyped it like Post does it'd probably debut closer to #1 (probably still not, though).
IHSH was a mega-smash upon debut on par with WAP's points so that's pretty much impossible to replicate for either artist...

Zach's streams seem much lower than his last project. Perhaps he should've waited a few more months. His album is amazing. More into Folk-Americana territory which may be a turnoff to the older country fans. But yeah, def lower, and on top of that his first full week will start on D2. He cares even less about the charts than Kelly Clarkson! If he had played his cards right he would have definitely been the one to dethrone Taylor. I hope the song with John Mayer takes off, it's great. |

He set the bar high with his self-titled so even if his new album's streams are lower they're still good. Currently he has songs charting from four different albums on US Spotify top 50. "Heading South" from Elisabeth (2020) "Something in the Orange" and "Sun to Me" from American Heartbreak (2022) "I Remember Everything" from Zach Bryan (2023) And then new songs from The Great American Bar Scene (2024) What other artists have we seen that have had situations like this? I'm thinking Taylor at some point? It's all so fascinating because he hasn't really had any mainstream promotion or radio hits. |
