I don't know but it seems like the show is lazy with debuts every time a guest host appears. There's either one debut or none every time that happens in recent memory. The Door should have debuted but Cruel Summer suddenly moves back up to #39 like it's immortal or something. Is It Over Now is likely to fall off before Cruel Summer does at this point.

It feels like "Airplanes" these days only plays an extra whenever a guest host takes over. The last time I recall that song playing as an extra with Seacrest hosting the countdown was the one for December 7, 2019.

At least Pat Monahan is hosting both AT40 shows this time. When he last subbed back in March 2022, he only did Hot AC (Gayle hosted the CHR version).

This makes no Sense. Who is making these decisions on the AT40 panel? Hey soul sister, Drive By, Drops of Jupiter, meet Virginia should have been automatics and they covered different eras. He could have added the latest yellow dress on it too . SMH

I'm pretty sure that "Airplanes" was only a AT40 #1. Peaked at #2 on Mediabase and didn't reach #1 on any rolling updates.

When Pat Monahan guest hosted the Hot AC show on March 19, 2022, he played the following 4 Train songs as regular AT40 extras:
"Hey, Soul Sister" (2010), "Drops Of Jupiter (Tell Me)" (2001), "Calling All Angels" (2003) and "Play That Song" (2017).

This week in the Hot AC show, he played "Drops Of Jupiter (Tell Me)" (2001), "Drive By" (2012), "If It's Love" (2010) and "Play That Song" (2017) as AT40 Requests and "Long Yellow Dress" as an On The Verge track.

He mentioned in this show that "Drops Of Jupiter (Tell Me)" is the most important song for him and that this year is the 15th anniversary of their album "Save Me, San Francisco" which includes "Hey, Soul Sister".

These songs are getting zero airplay at CHR stations so it makes perfect sense to leave them off. If you upset too many stations with songs they don't play, they're gonna drop the show.

This makes sense. The end-of-hour "request" songs are technically optional segments, so if any stations are afraid to play old Train, they're free to replace the segment (or just drop it and sell a few extra local ads).
