Given this is actually somehow managing to attempt to go top 20 here, despite her momentum being so far buried when it was released, I will definitely concur they should have tried this as the lead. I don’t particularly like it, but this surely would have done miles more than WW based on how it’s doing now.

If this hits top 20 I will consider it a win tbh given everything. That would give her two top 20 pop singles this era including "Woman's World", which honestly could have been far worse considering the reception of the whole project.

she's been struggling since "Rise" tho in 2016, lol. I actually love Rise. It really was the perfect Olympics' song. Had Hillary won I'm sure it would've been a huge hit. Maybe not. But I still think the production is top notch and it could've done something with more promo. It was kinda sent out to pasture after the video. That teaser vid was prime Katy Perry tho. I remember everyone claiming it would be the next #1 because of that scene with her chocking in the water. The actual video was a letdown compared to the teaser video, imo.

Yes, I agree.  This song has gotten mixed reviews.  Some people love it, some people hate it.

For me, the sample of Crystal Waters' "Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless)" or "Gypsy Woman (La da dee la da da)" made the song.  Without it, I probably wouldn't even have noticed the song at all.

"Rise" was never a "hit single" type song. It's a fantastic empowering anthem no doubt, but it's certainly not radio fodder. I understood its release as a one off promotional single tho. "Roulette" should have led Witness IMO and the era and her career could have panned out so differently, as it was far more inline with what the public wanted from Katy.

4.) "Miss You More"

That would've been a solid single era IMO. Don't even get me started on Smile and how that gem of an album could've and should've been handled better. Sigh. It's easily her second best effort IMO.

Idk about any kind of potential 4th single existing, but I’m 100% in agreement that those first 3 you listed would have been the best way to play the era. The title track really needed its moment to shine, that was the biggest potential hit with the right setup.
