Taylor Swift’s THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT (Republic) will return to #1 for its 13th non-consecutive week. At midweek, no new releases are projecting to the Top 20.
Now, if you’ll excuse us, it’s time for our second lunch.

I need taylor to prep the variants for the no-debut weeks coming up. I can’t stomach Wallen taking more weeks at #1

Where is the Deadpool soundtrack? Surely at least Bye Bye Bye is doing good numbers...

Do albums with more songs have an advantage in the streaming era?

Do albums with more songs have an advantage in the streaming era? In their debut week for sure, but later only if you're Taylor, Morgan and probably Drake.

Damn Ice Spice couldn't even crack the top 20. It was a horrible piss poor effort. Honestly, I'd be embarrassed if I was her for the most part.

Where is the Deadpool soundtrack? Surely at least Bye Bye Bye is doing good numbers... Isn't there some sort of rule that songs available on an artist's album get credited to that parent album? I believe only the ST's pure sales and tracks that are ST exclusives count. I seem to recall Billboard mentioning that *rule* for Annie Lennox's 'I Put A Spell on You' having the streams sent to 'Nostalgia' rather than whatever movie soundtrack it was on.

'Various Artist' compilations/albums/soundtracks only get equivalent units for songs that are specifically newly released for them. NOW! Compilations for example, would not get the streams for 20+ different hit singles, they are only pure sales.
Various Artists soundtracks like Twister, Encanto, Greatest Showman, etc get SPS from every song like a normal album because the songs are all newly released specifically for the soundtrack.
Deadpool & Wolverine would not get any units from all the old classics they included, just only the brand new songs specifically released for it such as the Original Score songs.

^Yes. That would explain why Guardians of the Galaxy 1 OST pretty much got its Billboard 200 numbers from pure sales once the chart changed to include streaming and song sales.

Thanks! It's a bit weird if a song gets a huge resurgence thanks to a movie but doesn't benefit the soundtrack. But it's a bit complex...

They should do this for Greatest Hits as well because no way glorified playlists like The Weekend's Essentials thing chart so well while the parent albums dissappear.

Absolutely. Greatest Hits packages should be sales only unless accompanied by new tracks.

Or, they can simply attribute the streams of a song to the album the song being streamed comes from. Songs on streaming services are always attributed to a parent album - or they're singles. If they're singles, they shouldn't count toward an album, or they go toward the primary album of the artist (or soundtrack or whatever) and then that's it. It's ridiculous to me that all versions of the same recording get lumped together for the charts even when they are sources from different albums.

I totally agree with you; that seems like the most elegant solution from a "fairness" perspective.. That said, there's a ton of new opportunity for error if a song's points are being separated into different albums for the purpose of the Billboard 200, but have to be aggregated for the Hot 100... so it's a less elegant solution from an ease-of-producing-a-consistent-chart perspective.

Interesting the vast disparity in numbers with which Taylor has been #1. This week, she has 73,000 units, or a little under 3% of her opening week number of 2.6 million!

When you look at physical album sales the numbers are so low now. Artists make the most money from physical sales too.
