Yes. That's what has always astonished me about Gaga in particular. She has delivered so many lousy ballads, I mean... never mind failing to deliver that one extraordinary ballad (think IWALY), her ballads are more often than not just not up to par. They range from decent at best ("Million Reasons") to horrible ("Yoü and I"). Girl plea. I suggest you listen to the classics "Shallow," "Always Remember Us This Way" and "I'll Never Love Again" and the power ballad "Hold My Hand" before posting about Gaga ballads. but those are all lousy. My opinion, of course. She always uses those theatrical dope vocals and people think she has such a powerful range. But to me its so jarring. We'll see tho, maybe she'll sound sweet and pure and leaves the belting behind. |

Surprising how huge Shallow was and is, I never loved it, but the others mentioned I enjoy a lot.
Hold My Hand lyrics were kinda weak, but still a pretty vocal delivery.

Yeah, Shallow is a great song, the overplay really killed it for me. Always Remember Us This Way is a better song tho, and not overplayed lol.

Shallow didn’t work for me because of her relentless screaming throughout. Yet, she’s also created some delicious pop bangers (Edge of Glory, Bad Romance), so this could be amazing. Both of their musical careers need a shot in the arm right now, and this might also help Bruno pay off his MGM tab, lol, so I'm hopeful. My only concern, as Vegas vets, is that we don’t end up with a dull showtune.

Voice sounds much better than on 'Shallow', which is also one of the reasons I don't gravitate towards that song. Looking forward to the whole song.

Isn't that adjective earned after it being a hit and then continuing to remain popular for years? When I think of timeless ballads I think of classic hits. Or maybe I'm missing something? |
