Damn. I hope it's a more rock sounding song. Lucky was fine but I def prefer the sound of IICHLIWP and the new track LITM.

Her rollout for this album is so strange. I hope this is finally the bonafide smash she needs.

There's a teaser of "Ego" which has been posted on her YouTube channel, so it seems that this might be the song to be performed at the VMAs.

I don't think this sound is gonna nab her another hit, but I like this vibe from her. I hope the album leans more in this direction.

This is available for airplay now, which means that "Ego" is the lead radio single from the album. As far as I remember, "Lucky" got unsolicited radio airplay, but it wasn't properly pushed.

KIIS just played this to kick off the 7am hour for New Music Friday, announcing it was an iHeart World premiere. It's ok, but why didn't they do this with Lucky..?

My station is also premiering this at the top of every other hour. They also did the same with "Lucky."

I love it! Her voice is so good and she always has great production. I hope it manages to do well but I don’t expect it to

This is available for airplay now, which means that "Ego" is the lead radio single from the album. This is the latest flyer from Columbia. As far as I remember, "Lucky" got unsolicited radio airplay, but it wasn't properly pushed. I already checked this on its own thread and although it seems that it got a radio deal at the top of every other hour (based of the information that RoseColoredGirl mentioned above), there wasn't any push and an impact date wasn't set up for "Lucky", so this is indeed the lead radio single from The Great Impersonator.

You know when I first heard "New Americana" I had such high expectations for Halsey. Like she was gonna be akin to a younger Lana with her own perspective and voice, but instead she just turned into a B-list female pop star with mediocre to average material. I like her as a person, but her music never really hits it out of the park for me. "Without Me" is probably my favorite single by her and even it's nothing incredible and I don't know what she's thinking with this new album. "Lucky" felt like a Madtv parody of the actual song (which, no disrespect intended as I know it covered personal topics, just wish she did so in a completely different way). I really hope she finds her groove and releases at least one project with the full potential I feel she has. I do kinda like the Avril vibe she has in "Ego"!

So Lucky was the first single and a failure? First of all, it depends what's your definition of a single (or standalone release) for you. That said, Halsey has released four so far, which are: "The End", "Lucky", "Lonely is the Muse" and "Ego". The former was deemed as a promotional track, while the following three songs have been called as singles when they were out. Despite "Lucky" received unsolicited support from radio (as well as a deal on its first day as it was mentioned some posts above), the song wasn't properly pushed by Columbia. The same, aside the unsolicited radio airplay and deal, applies to "Lonely is the Muse", but it can't be said about "Ego" because, as you could see the banner from Columbia from some posts above, it's available for airplay, which in other terms means that it has been sent to radio. As a consequence, "The End" is the promotional single, "Lucky" is the first or lead single, "Lonely is the Muse" is the second single and "Ego" is the third single from The Great Impersonator, but in terms of promotion and push from the label, "Ego" is the first or lead radio single from the album.

Her fall off really needs to be discussed Agreed. She had two of the biggest hot 100 and streaming hits of all time in the latter half of last decade, along with a solid handful of additional bonafide hits in that stretch and then… nothing (commercially). Without Me is her last true hit, a full half a decade ago. I think it’s now or never for her to have any kind of big comeback, but this era is feeling heavily like never. She very much seemed like she was poised to be one of THE female pop stars of her gen heading into this decade, quite sad.

Yeah honestly it still shocks me how Without Me seemed like the start of a long streak of hits and it was actually kinda sorta the end.

Yeah honestly it still shocks me how Without Me seemed like the start of a long streak of hits and it was actually kinda sorta the end. Yeah she was set up so perfectly after that to smash hard with the Manic era, but Graveyard and You Should Be Sad were just so dull and not chart friendly. CHR even tried to make them both happen, despite the clear lack of interest in them. It’s a shame Nightmare was way too rock and heavy for the casual mainstream at the time. I maintain that’s still her best single post Without Me by a mile and crazy catchy to boot. Prob a big hit circa early/mid 00s lol.

If anything 'You Should Be Sad' was ahead of its time. Slightly country-tinged pop music? Would've been right on trend right now.

I thought You Should Be Sad was catchy, but Graveyard was kind of a wet blanket.

Graveyard and You Should Be Sad weren't radio friendly?? How??? Well, for starters I know I listened to them multiple times at the time, but can’t for the life of me tell you how either goes. Personally, there aren’t many big chart hits this century that I struggle to remember so much as a tune. The point being though, CHR was extremely kind to both considering how the public said no to both at the time. CHR was ready to stan her hard that era. The music dropped the ball.

Stop trying to pass off your own opinions as some kind of objective facts. The objective facts are CHR tried to take them all the way to top ten before they had to give up on both since the public weren’t here for either. They were flops outside of radio, but radio was ready for her that era. The hit material wasnt there. And if I wasn’t objetive, I’d be trying to say Nightmare was a hit just because I like it. But it was not and I totally understand why as someone who has always had a great pulse on hit trends. Not sure what you’re on about.
