10. What You Won't Do For Love - Bobby Caldwell
Never would have guessed this being this popular on PULSE. I thought it was an 80's sitcom theme song, and never payed much attention to it. The Ted Knight sitcom Too Close For Comfort comes to mind. I do understand it's attraction, with its pleasant lyrics, but I got into it when the British, New Wave, Duo of Go West covered it in 1992. It's known as a Blue eyed soul pop ballad ,and Peter Cox nailed it with his vocals.

9. He's The Greatest Dancer - Sister Sledge
Probably my least favorite of the Sister Sledge hits, but still Top 50 worthy.

8. I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor
Everyone likes it for their own surviving reasons. I just thinks it's a bad ass Disco classic ,and into my top 20 it goes. I thought it would get at least one #1 ranking?

7. Bad Girls - Donna Summer
Too Too ,Beep Beep. Such a bouncer. I always figured Disco suffered the same fate as Galm/Hair metal. The industry thought it just became too big for its own good. Other wise why kill off a genre when it was at its peak?

6. Le Freak - Chic
Another Bad Ass disco jam that sits proudly in my vinyl collections. Speaking of top 100 hits of Cash Box 1979. If we would have ranked that list instead, we would have gotten the chance to rank The Cars "Let's Go". Came in at #96 for the year...just saying. 

5. Good Times - Chic
Let The Good Times Roll with more Chic classics.

A lot of #1's for this one. I've come to appreciate it more and more each time it shows up in one of these Rds.

3. Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough - Michael Jackson
I foresaw this taking a backseat to Hottness and Blondes. Still a classic though, and one of M.J's absoloute best.

I have both of these next two in my top 10...and the winner is.. (Drumroll)..

2. Heart Of Glass - Blondie
Well well New Wave goes Disco, but is still technically considered Rock. I'd say only Kiss and Blondie were able to get their Disco song played on Rock stations. This is my favorite Blondie song ever. Love her angelic vocals. Easily in my top 100 songs of all time.

1.  Hot Stuff - Donna Summer
and my #9 takes the Crown. Kinda perfect how the Queen of Disco takes the 1979 Disco crown. Disco is the genre that perfectly found a way to incorporate a hard rocking guitar solo in to the music style...and I love this song for that. You gotta love Disco a little to love Rock ,and vica versa. If you like the single version, hunt for the 12' vinyl. It has a killer sax solo as well. The only thing this song needed was to retitle itself "Hott Stuff", cuz the HOTTNESS here was insane.

To say I had a ball doing this RD is an understatement. Easily one of the best years in music. When I went back in the 90's to do my fictional music charts of the 80's I decided to start off with 1979. Anyway great job as master of ceremonies.

Thanks Soulsista for a great rankdown.  Very solid Top 10! I didn't do all that well, but it was a very strong year.  So many great extras you profiled - Drivers Seat, Cruel to Be Kind, Blame it on the Boogie and all the Blondie songs - they all would have been very high on my list.  And so much non-disco, non adult contemporary stuff were released in 79 and it was so strong, just ahead of its time IMO - Rappers Delight (Sugar Hill Gang), Message in a Bottle and Walking on the Moon (Police), What I Like About You (Romantics), Highway to Hell (AC/DC), Life During Wartime (Talking Heads), London Calling (Clash), Oops Up Side Your Head (Gap Band),  I Need a Lover/Heartbreaker (Pat Benatar), Cool for Cats/Up the Junction (Squeeze), Hey Hey My My (Neil Young), Starry Eyes (Records) and some great AOR too - Flirtin' with Disaster (Molly Hatchet), Since You Been Gone (Rainbow), Fool in the Rain (Led Zeppelin).  1979 truly was a great year for all genres and a sign of the times to come.
