I could see a potential BeyoncΓ© ft for the continuation of βTelephoneβ on this album. Donβt even play with me. If she doesnβt drag Beyβs ass out of music video retirement for it tho, they can keep it

This is βSwineβs older sister. This would fit perfect in a club scene of a action horror film

Apparently, this is #1 song on Today's Top Hits playlist on Spotify today.

Estimated to debut at #18 on Billboard β I want to also mention that TTC has 5 songs debuting from his album ahead of this song.
I think this will have room to grow next week as those album songs fall, if streams can maintain and radio grows.
Edit: Also appears to have another huge radio update with +592 on pop, entering the Top 20

How is this song #1 on TTH with such abysmal streams? How do these playlists actually work?

How is this song #1 on TTH with such abysmal streams? How do these playlists actually work? Usually an established act will get the top spot or close if their last release did well and y'all know DWAS is smashing even to this day. If it doesn't improve soon they'll move it down, but it's kinda normal for them to try and push a song that they think could do well. I'm sure labels do try to push their songs to the curators but that I have no idea how they do since money would be illegal.

Honestly, after a couple listens, this is truly fantastic. I am really rooting for this song. I would really place it as one of her top tier singles for sure.

It does frustrate me this is the song getting all this momentum she has now. Radio is finally on board to really play a Gaga song again, she gets the TTH placement thanks to DWAS, etc etc and itβs all with what I maintain is a decidedly anti-mainstream song. Something truly radio friendly could be smashing the hell out of the charts rn in conjunction with DWAS. Sigh. Only good thing is if sheβs saving a song like that for the second single, it wonβt have to compete with DWAS being a juggernaut at all. But I fear much like with ROM, it wonβt have such a huge momentum edge as this did either.

I have faith GG has a second single ready to kill it around the LG7 drop!!! Next week I'd love to see her and Bruno get to #1 on the BB Hot 100 and to get Disease into the BB Hot 100 Top 10!

The song is produced by the most pop producer in the game & full of classic pop hooks. Itβs a little intense for a pop record but itβs bold and brash like Gaga is supposed to be. Did you want her to release something more generic? Thatβs crazy

I wouldn't say it is anti-mainstream, but it is definitely not tailored FOR the mainstream. Which I am ok with. I think Gaga is beyond the point of me expecting her to try to make TikTok ready radio bait songs lol. But, even then, she has a super radio friendly pop song released at the same time with DWAS so this feels like the best of both worlds. Something radio baity to satisfy people, something a bit less immediate for others.

I wouldnβt be surprised if that was part of their strategy, but I donβt want to assume.

I know this is going to shock some people, but people listen to other music besides pop. I know, I know... wild. So yes, if you only listen to pure bubblegum pop, this is not going to work for you. If you listen to rock, punk, indie, alt, EDM, etc -- this is great. Its not anti-mainstream, its just not conforming to the current pop sounds. Mainstream crosses many groups of people and sounds.
We have seen some hits the last few years from "anti-mainstream" songs that totally smashed, and we have seen "mainstream" pop songs that we expected to smash that did nothing. Thats just how it goes. Tastes can change on a moments notice.

It's nice that she's getting radio support because of a radio deal and good Spotify placement but if the song ends up underperforming, things could backfire.

Because she is almost past the age where it is reasonably viable for her to smash the charts and be a hitmaker, the clock is ticking. And I care about that bc itβs been 13 years since her last proper mainstream pop star smash hit era, and I feel she needs one more of those to truly cement herself as one of the all time pop icons among multiple generations. Sheβs close, but as it is Iβd say her relevancy and legacy is somewhat confined to millennials. She needs her Britney/Madonna/Cher/Mariah etc era that will really solidify her with younger demos too. *though Cher had that at 50, but thatβs very much the exception to the rule

It was when Madonna really started following trends with Hard Candy that she stopped having major hits. Hell, even her Confessions era, while highly regarded and gave her one of his biggest international hits, still did poorly at US pop radio. Iβm all for our favs doing what they can to get hits but dumbing down oneβs sound, especially for someone as unique and fun as Gagaβs music can be - I am strongly against and will argue against it every time it comes up because the logic isnβt there and itβs lazy thinking and a lazy suggestion. She needs material that people will respect, not made-for-pop-radio songs.

That video is the scariest thing I've seen all year. Forget Joker 2 she should be in the next Blair Witch Project.
