Easy bet really? You should lower your expectations, remember what happened to Katy Perry. Its 2024 not 2009. I was wondering when my favourite wet blanket stick in the mud would show up! I actually love Lady Gaga, Die With a Smile is one of my favorite songs right now. Let's look back at Gaga's last 3 Hot 100 #1s,Die With a Smile, Shallow and Rain on Me, what do these three songs have in common? They were duets. This new song Disease is Gaga solo. She hasn't had a solo #1 for about 10 years.

In the rare case that it was that clip she played from a laptop for people outside (wherever they were), it sounded incredible! It gave me the same vibe as The Weeknd's latest tease from Sydney. Between Gaga and Abel, please make dark synths invade the current pop music landscape.

I was wondering when my favourite wet blanket stick in the mud would show up! She hasn't had a solo #1 for about 10 years. If there was a moment to strike, it would be next week. With that said, I still doubt it goes #1. I'd love to see it, but it would have to be a home run, pop star event.
Yeah, I am thinking top 10 debut is probably a pretty easy bet. Top 5 would be awesome. Remind me where I said this was going to go #1? Because I can't seem to find it. However, since you want to quote stats and make claims, Stupid Love did debut at #5 from Chromatica, as her last lead single -- which was honestly a weak lead. And you can discount her duet's as counting towards her star power, but quick reminder that Shallow is one of the all-time best selling songs in history and its not because of Bradley Cooper's star power.

If Stupid Love (a bop, but not a popular kind of bop) could debut at #5, I have no doubt this has at least a good chance of a top ten debut from curiosity streams alone. It’ll be interesting to see what radio does with it given the tepid climb of DWAS, and the random dropping of ROM

But she's had solo hits and is currently the woman with the most spotify listeners in the world. There's more to life than #1s LG.

Maximillian To put things in perspective, Rose and Bruno Mars APT is doing 14 million global Spotify streams daily and 2 million Usa Spotify streams daily and it's only projected to debut in the top 10 on the Hot 100. Do you actually think that Disease will stream 1.5 to 2 million daily because that's what it will take to get a top 5 Hot 100 debut.

I do agree that this will be lucky to debut Top 10.

Yeah I dont think its realistic to expect this to reach #1. I would even be cautious of expecting a top-ten.

Do you actually think that Disease will stream 1.5 to 2 million daily because that's what it will take to get a top 5 Hot 100 debut. APT also has about 2.5m in audience right now on radio, and is now expected to debut at #7 on BB100. If Gaga even got the same treatment as Woman's World, she would end up around 15m in audience the first week. Totally depends if this gets a radio deal and/or is embraced by radio (but I would be shocked if it wasn't). Look at "Love Somebody", which is set to debut at #1, which has decent streaming and ~12m radio audience right now, with no music video. So yeah, if Gaga gets a strong first week streaming, radio and video views, a top 10 is not impossible.... but again, holding judgment until we hear it. It could easily be a song that does not click with audiences. Fun fact: "APT" was also produced by Cirkut, who produced this song.

As I understand it, Billboard weights it like this currently (from most weight, to least weight) to calculate final points: - Paid Streams (IE: Spotify Premium, YouTube Premium, etc) - Ad Supported Streams (Pandora, regular Spotify, regular YouTube) - Radio Audience - Sales (iTunes) Streams are the dominating factor followed by radio.

You would think sales would be the biggest since it costs the most for the consumer.

Explain why Morgan Wallen is gonna get #1 over Rose and Bruno Mars. APT is doing 2 million Usa streams daily and the music video has 126 million views. So, how does Morgan get the edge over this? Is it the audience?

It’ll be interesting to see what radio does with it given the tepid climb of DWAS, and the random dropping of ROM The one thing there though is she did in fact have huge momentum from ASIB going into that era, so Stupid Love is what got the benefit of that (kinda wasted imo, but I digress). That and the fact it was super duper inoffensive as a song, while this… well, may not be lol.

Anyone know if we’re getting the video tonight too? I was wondering too. The pre-release buzz/promo has just seemed so low key tbh, which is what i was afraid of given we’ve had so many new Gaga songs in the past couple months.

Insanely hot - maybe my favorite lead single from any project she’s done, since Fame era. This is so so so good

Instant love for this one. It has a NIN-esque crunch to it that’s just delicious and plays to Gaga’s strengths. Hope it connects!

This is certifiably a WHOLE ASS BOP. So insanely GOOD! On my first listen, I think it might be my second or third favorite lead single from Gaga.
This is easily better than Applause, Perfect Illusion, and Stupid Love. Bad Romance remains #1 but this is probably interchangeable with Just Dance, given that this is brand new.

Classic Gaga down to the overcrowded mix 😂 Sounds great, I get the Government Hooker/Schiesse comparisons but it’s not that similar ultimately. Good work from Cirkut. NIN comparison is spot on, it's like electro rock.

Oh shit, she really said no basic-bop Stupid Love’s or messy Perfect Illusion’s this time! Very interesting for sure, and the lyrics are less jarring than I thought they’d be in the song context. That said, I’m not sure I’m getting “hit” from it off the bat. I think it’s maybe a bit too left-field for the casuals. Agree with the NIN mention, that’s a good comparison point for the vibe here. Should easily surpass her last two leads for me, but initially it’s not up to par with the pre Joanne leads for me yet.
