It's been a couple weeks and I can say that I still really like this track, HOWEVER it hasn't had the same listening staying power as some of his previous stuff. I had Take My Breath on repeat for weeks but I'm starting to burn on this a bit, I think it needed a bit more build-up like the live version and not throw us into the first chorus within 30 seconds. But even with that I still think it's a great track and that chorus is very catchy. I'm still hoping he gives us something a bit different sonically for the next single, he keeps teasing Sao Paulo and it sounds like a club banger and I desperately need it lol

I agree with some of your points, DITF isn't an interesting choice for the lead single, it sounds like a nice album track to have, nothing more than that. Disagree with the momentum part, he scored one of his biggest hits with Die For You and Creepin'.

Die For You was 6-7 years old and Creepin is a Metro Boomin song. He was absolutely failing with every single off Dawn FM.

His last club banger was Heartless all the back in 2019. Honestly there's only like 2 club songs on the entire Hot 100 rn and it's been that way since Covid. Pop and Country have been on an onslaught the last like 2 years and rap/trap r&b has been so dormant. Hope that song is the next single as well

Hoping they’ll start a bigger push for “Timeless” on radio soon. That song has number one potential

I still think this gonna reach the Top 10 on name reorganization alone but I don't see it going anywhere past #8 with it's terrible streaming numbers, it'd probably be a good idea to start pushing Timeless to pop radio as well just to get it going. We all know how long pop radio takes to get any hip-hop adjacent songs in heavy rotation so pushing it now and letting radio start slowly adding it is a good idea. If pop has no problem playing Not Like Us I don't see why they'd take a huge issue with this track especially since they brought Heartless to a Top 5 peak in 2020.

the weeknd quadrupling down on the 80s sound after the public has pretty clearly shown that they were into it for exactly two songs is. kind of bizarre at this point. i guess good on him for following his muse ?? (because at this point there's no way it's a business decision)

that said, as someone who quite liked dawn fm overall, this is pretty middling and forgettable -- definitely not lead single material. i agree it's time to switch objectives but the other song he released is actually even worse then this (and is similarly hookless) so idk what's going on but if these are the best things he has to release then YEESH

I just wish Abel would give us a release date and a tracklist. He's teased like 10 tracks off this album so far and his last couple albums have been like 13-15 tracks so I really hope we haven't heard most of the album already, because that would be a little lame. There's rumors of a double album but we don't have any concrete information yet, and we probably won't until after he wraps up the Australian leg of his tour on October 23rd.
