That's it for debut week no? Does it slow down a la Lil Nas X / Katy Perry? Does it carry on a la Starboy (which I think was near top 10 at this point)? I'm gonna guess somewhere in the middle. It's clearly not connecting that much generally but it's not outright stinking up the place like Woman's World and J CHRIST.

This is really, really underwhelming. I am not shocked in the slightest that this is flopping. The way he sings "dancing in the flames" in the chorus is really catchy though, I’ll give it that.

Fell out of the Top 50 on US Spotify on Friday and has yet to re-enter. Out of the top 40 on Global Spotify. While I don’t like this song at all, I expected it to be doing well like most of his songs on streaming. I’m really surprised by its failure there. I wonder what the cause is: The Weeknd general fatigue, fatigue of this sound from him, or the song itself just isn’t connecting. I wonder how far radio will carry it

Yikes. This is not looking good for the single streaming wise. I dont think the people are tired of The Weeknd in general, it’s probably the sound. They people are more inclined to his modern R&B sound with his toxic persona.

2. The hook is not good
3. His core base wants trap drums and depressing dark lyrics/drug talk
Take My Breath almost debuted top 5 three years ago off the momentum of After Hours. His momentum was at an all time low after Dawn FM until Popular and One Of The Girls helped it slightly rebound.

And despite it all, he just managed to pull arguably his second biggest hit ever from… you guessed it, Starboy. Album is packed with hits that haven’t really aged. He needs that again.

sales 18k streams 15.7M airplay 19.8M not a drastic difference tho (sales and streams). I agree with some of your points, DITF isn't an interesting choice for the lead single, it sounds like a nice album track to have, nothing more than that. Disagree with the momentum part, he scored one of his biggest hits with Die For You and Creepin'. |

I can understand the criticisms of this sounding like a retread and how the original production is a little tired, but I just love it. lol I love a good, beautiful cheesy ballad and once I heard the acoustic version it was a wrap for me. lol

I do think something is there with that first verse and start of the song. But I needed a much better payoff with the chorus, and I really hate how much it blends together after verse 1.
