Their voices sound so great together. This was definitely worth the wait!

I am actually not as in love with this song as so many others are. This song is fine, but it also feels really sleepy for me, like I was waiting for the big power moment of the song and instead it just felt fine. Like this isn't the worst song by any means, but from both artists I have definitely heard better.

"If I Didn't Love You" definitely packed more of a punch for me, but it is neat hearing Carrie in her lower register more.

I do agree with you that it could’ve used a bit of a climax moment especially with their vocals but still really dig this.

This is very good, but I do have to admit my hopes were higher from the clips than I feel after hearing the whole song. Like it had potential to be even better. But, it’s still really good. I agree with you. It feels like something is missing. What i don’t really know. But maybe it is just my incredibly high expectations clouding my judgement. I still really like it. As of right now though i would still rank IIDLY a little bit higher as far as carrie collabs go

I like IIDLY a lot more, I do think this song kind of has a weird structure and never takes off, but hearing Carrie’s low register was really pretty and I enjoyed that. Still hoping this does become a hit

Still hoping this does become a hit The structure is interesting! I feel like most writers would have put the guitar interlude after the second chorus instead of before and then lead into the last verse before a final chorus (where there would be more room for “bombast” or “a vocal moment” — I’m actually fine with this song not having a standout note or moment, because I find their voices to sound so rich and emotive in each line they sing and it gives the song a sweet, quiet sincerity.) I’m definitely looking forward to learning about the writing process and the story of how this song made it to Cody after so many years (saw a video on YouTube of a songwriter performing it which was uploaded 7 years ago).

I wanna say I read last year when he was first talking about it that he said Carrie had it on hold for a while, but it didn't fit the theme of her album at the time (which was most likely when she was making Cry Pretty.)
If i'm not mistaken he said it was on hold by other artists as well, but nothing ever became of it. Then circled back to it years later to find out nothing was ever done with it.

I think IIDLY debuted with like 600k, and it debuted on the hot 100 at 15. I wonder where that puts this debuting on the hot 100 at.

Agree with some of the above comments that there's something missing as I was expecting the song to take off more and have starker dynamics to it. Instead it just kinda sits level in one place throughout the whole track. That said, there's absolutely no denying that the harmonies are iron clad here and the music video is definitely a nice visual as well. I'm hoping it grows on me more with time, but right now I like it quite a bit, but fall short of outright loving it. I'm excited for it to be a big success, nonetheless.

This would have been a really nice number to close a Carrie record (with her singing solo). As a single it falls flat for me, but it’s a fine song.

I love the vocals, both individually and together. Carrie's lower register has improved so much and it's beautiful here. Hoping she uses this song's inevitable success and her Idol role to slay some new music.

How long will it take for it to reach number 1 it landed at 21 on billboard country airplay seems it should have an easy climb but then again nothing is ever easy. Wonder where it will land on billboard hot country singles.

Wonder where it will land on billboard hot country singles. Typical opening week for a major star, in this case 2. Likely it will fall quite a way down next week and start it's natural climb.

Did this song completely fall off? I didn’t see it on the published top 50 update yesterday.

Should be top 30 any week now. I feel like the bounce back after its debut has been a little slower than i would have thought, but all in all its doing pretty good and i expect it to hit the top eventually. February/march maybe?

Yep Top 30 on Billboard Country Airplay this past Friday as it moved up to #30 after 5 weeks, and on Mediabase this is at #33 this week.
