I think it's more just that the charts are incredibly dull. Not much to post about Shaboozey and Teddy Swims at this point.

our top 6 are:
A Bar Song (7 months old) Die With A Smile (3 months) okay, this is FRESH Birds of a feather (6 months) Espresso (7 months) I Had Some Help (6 months) Lose Control (17 months)
it's surprising when we have more than one page tbh. What's there to discuss? Espresso being one of the biggest airplay gainers today, Lose Control re-entering the top 5, or Beautiful Things again in the top 10. I mean, Gracie Abrams' breakthrough is literally the most 'exciting' story currently...

Radio refusing to play new songs is that exact reason why some of these songs stick around longer on the charts than they should. Since Teddy Swims, Shaboozey, and Benson Boone are not exactly lauded by the stan twitter crowd, it would be easier to mobilize them to call out radios lack of changing in their playlist until they see it and start having a lot more dynamic playlisting which leads to more interesting charts but thatβs wishful thinking.

it's interesting b/c all 3 of them (tho esp shaboozey) are nowhere near a second top 10 hit. not even a top 20 has been achievable.

Julia Michaels released "Heaven II" but that's unlikely to chart unfortunately.

My pop station has literally had the same exact playlist since July, thereβs been a couple newer adds like tracks from Gaga and The Weeknd, some of the newer Sabrina tracks post-PPP, but itβs mostly been the exact same set of songs. I donβt necessarily listen to radio because my car has Bluetooth but sometimes Iβll intentionally tune in just for the hell of it and itβs crazy, you could listen to your pop station for 1 hour back in May and 1 hour now and itβll be virtually the same. Thatβs insane. I cannot deal with Beautiful Things or Lose Control anymore. Itβs possible that weβll have like 6 songs beat Heat Waves record at this point.

I kinda get Lose Control spending years on charts - he is the new Cee-Lo/Khalid after all - but Beautiful Things is like the 6th best Benson Boone song lol

I need DWAS to be a H100 No.1, peaking at no.2 would be another Bad Romance nightmare

What a "exciting" singl charts recently, when we have about 10 number one songs and 20 top 10 songs a year plus Mariah Carey. Pop music and charts have turned into such a boring drag recent years...

So happy to see Gaga and Bruno enjoy such success with DWAS. And glad that radio is starting to be really receptive to the track after its streaming success. #5 on Pop and #6 on HAC and AC with healthy AI gains currently. Even Rhythmic is spinning it low-key, where it's at #32 with room to grow imo. I can see this reaching the top 3 and maybe even higher on overall radio. Given it's still #3 on US Spotify, #10 on US AM and #4 on US YT I feel this song will enjoy great longevity in the top 10 and an eventual #1 peak can't be ruled out if they still have some tricks up their sleeve.
As for Gaga's new song Disease, I think that was a misstep musically. The song is a little muddled melodically imo and not very instant. She can definitely do better than that, especially for the lead single off her upcoming album. Unsurprisingly, the song has already stalled on Pop (#19) and HAC (#34). However, I feel that after DWAS peaks, Gaga will release a proper lead single for her new album. I'm sure she's made several infectious songs ready to heat up the pop airwaves.

Disease was supposed to be the big lead single. Reminds me of when she released Perfect illusion and it quickly disappeared

Honestly the Hot 100 might be kinda cooked in terms of engagement and excitement for the rest of this year. It's about to be xmas season and it doesn't seem like any song is meaningfully making the moves needed to be competitive against Mariah and Brenda. Unless a huge act drops? The one I can think of is Nicki's new version of her album but that's probably gonna be a minor one week bomb.

Here for them doing what they need to do to get ABS the record.
Didn't Nas X need tricks the last few weeks at #1 to break the record?

^Yes multiple versions and remixes. I have given in to ABS taking it if Gaga/Bruno is not reaching top.

Linkin Park are releasing an album on Friday but it's not going to spawn a #1 hit - top ten at best.

Can Bruno send some signed cds or something lmao. The Shaboozey song being #1 still is so random to me (it's definitely one of those songs that overperformed in North America but was much smaller elsewhere).

Shaboozey also just was announced in the coveted Thanksgiving halftime show for the football game. Last years game was the highest ever watched with over 33 million viewers. Definitely pulling out all the stops to get the record and extend it now. He also has a performance on Nov 20 for the CMA awards.

without christmas songs and Morgan's one week I genuinely feel like ABS might have been able to achieve an unbeatable #1 run

I know everyone is beyond sick of both of them at this point, but I'm at least grateful I actually hear both Lose Control and A Bar Song in the wild (as well as songs that Spotify has "recommended" to me on numerous occasions).
I have never, ever, ever heard Last Night without looking it up on Spotify or YouTube. That one will forever baffle me. One can expect a long-running #1 to be shoved down their throats for months. Never once hearing a song that spent 1/3 of a year at #1 feels really sus.

Other than Taylor Swift and maybe Travis Scott/Sabrina Carpenter, who could drop an album that would have a massive impact on the Hot 100?
