This American Top 40 chart is very ‘loosely’ based on Oct 31. This makes no sense that ‘Houdini’ from Eminem is still on the chart where without the recurrents was at 40 so it should have exited awhile ago. Meanwhile, it prevents ‘Lose Control’ by Teddy Swims which in its own right has not been accurate for awhile because it’s still at number 17 in the Mediabase chart, falls off smh. This was the last song on the chart that had debuted in 2023. The weeks on the AT40 and its seeding makes it a strong candidate for number 1 of the year.

I guess last week's ranking was a mistake, since there's nothing on Mediabase or elsewhere that would support such a one-week spike.

"Bye Bye Bye" goes back a bit further than most AT40 extras that aren't listener requests or have some other special reason behind them, but both the song and group are well-remembered so it's not a shocking choice.

They could have played NSYNC's comeback single from this time last year- Better Place, which sadly a year later has been largely forgotten. It was a good song.

Sabrina Annlynn Carpenter and Chappell Roan have a stretch of 5 out 8 straight songs from number 9 to 2 within the top 10. I don’t remember such a stretch like that unless it’s the year end chart. When was the last time two artist had multiple songs on top 10 in the same week?

This 26 - 5 rule will affect the songs going recurrent in the Top 10 on AT40. Since the countdown doesn't follow actual recurrent song positions, these two will be seen gradually going down the chart.

For example, Lose Control is still in the Top 10 on HAC with recurrents at #8, where on AT40 is #23.
