metal is not all screaming, shut up. Yeah, that was a poor characterization on my part. I changed it to more accurately reflect what I meant (I think, anyway). Sorry about that.

I want to like this because it is different, both for SOAD and compared to anything else on the radio. But to me this just sounds like a directionless mess with a catchy chorus thrown in at seemingly random times. I'm all for departures from the verse-chorus-verse struture, but this just doesn't seem to go anywhere. When SOAD did songs like this in the past, they at least seemed to have some kind of flow to them. Maybe I just need to listen to this more.

I don't even remember how this song goes anymore. I just know the chorus kinda has a dancy sound to it. I managed to listen to it longer than Chop Suey, but I literally got a headache once they started yelling around the 2 minute mark.

I also realize that it's kind of hard to grab on to. I love it, however, I wish it the best!

This IS what System of a Down is about. Randomness. But it always works so well. Great song! Thanks for the links!

Yeah, now that I'm listening to it more, I'm definately starting to pick up on this.
Actually, this sounds a lot like what one of the members said the new album was gonna be like way back when - heavier and with a more obvious Eastern influence.
Anyway, judging by the two songs we've heard, I think this one's going to be a lot more like their first album.

This is a cool song! It's going straight to the top ten on my chart and most likely a number one on Active Rock as well!

I guess they tend to throw away the mp3's before the record company gets upset... You can always download it using Bit Torrent and whatnot.

well it just surprises me, because this band usually gets massive play. But HEY I'm not complaining. This song sucks, IMO. Even worse than Cigaro.

Maybe Alt radio is just not into this stuff anymore. Its been a while since SOAD has been on the scene and the format has changed quite a bit. Not many songs like this even come close to charting anymore, as was the case in 2001-2003.

And what was it...-12 when you said it? If it had been like -167, then I'd have been a little worried. But no, the song isn't done, and won't be for a while.

It looks like KNDD is slowly but surely warming up to this. I heard it for the second time on the station just a few minutes ago. I still think they should be all over this as they are on Audioslave, NIN, and the White Stripes, though. It's been noticeably absent from their People's Choice countdown. Maybe they're just trying to gauge listeners' feelings on this since it does sound out-of-left-field. Then again, so does the White Stripes new one, so that shouldn't be an excuse. I f**king love this song. I love the transitions between the absolutely insane parts ("Where the f**k are you!!!!") and the welcome respites in between ("Everybody's going to the party..."). The best part is at the end when you think you're in another of those lulls, and then they just slap you in the face with another crazy part right in the middle of a line. Brilliant. And that's it. I'm going to get this album (and I guess Hypnotize in conjunction) when it comes out. Probably not immediately, though, but likely at some point during the year. Although, I suppose I should hold out in case stores do some special deal with getting both albums at the same time (like buy one get the other half off or something). And this is coming from someone who listened to Toxicity exactly once.
