F**k Columbia for making a half-assed, shortened radio edit for this. They cut out the whole "blast off, it's party time" part, to resume at the final calls of "Why do we always send the poor", ending the song. It's only four minutes before it hit the steak knife. Realize that a band with the name power of SOAD does not need their comeback singles to be shorter than 4 minutes to become hits. Idiots.

I dont know if I am getting the edited version or not-I heard this on the radio yesterday and it was definitely over 4 minutes. I thought they had extended the song lol.

I heard the song on 92.3 in Cleveland last night in its entire length, leading me to a sigh of relief that not everyone is spinning the edited version. 89x in Detroit does play the shortened version though, and I'd find it hard to believe that they'd be the only one.

KDGE in Dallas is spinning the unedited version.

This may be a leading candidate for Alternative's next #1.
They're still almost 1000 spins from Nine Inch Nails, but they're going to fall sometime.
I think Foo Fighters, despite currently lacking a net gain in spins, are not through yet and may still be a challenger.
But the hype alone can continue to lift this track up, when you also consider their history of chart longevity, particularly with "Chop Suey" and "Toxicity".
I don't believe Offspring is going to go #1 either.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

um...wow. this is so unbeleivably energetic and chaotic, it reminded me of the first track on the mars volta's new album. i love the transitions from melodic chorus to godness knows what to call it. and when that other guy sings that little part he sounds like rufus from my red cell (see 'in a cage on prozac', its kinda like this song)

Who else thinks "Violent Pornography" should be the next single?
Either that or "Sad Statue" would work great.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Wow, this song's a hot mess...I mean, the screaming and the hard rock wonderfully blended with a dance-rock smidge. Interesting, but the dance-rock chorus sounds much better than the screaming and gives the song a more "mainstream" feel.
Speaking about the mainstream, how the hell did this gets mainstream adds?

There's also some boy band elements to this track, in the "Let's go out to the desert to blow up some sunshine!" portion! And that's probably why some mainstream stations are adding it. Though I think the screaming will keep it from charting, there is a recognizable hook nevertheless within it all that's actually quite catchy tha often makes up a lot of pop hits nowadays. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I like that one too, even though I haven't heard the rest of the album either. Love the retro feel, and the opening riff.

Ugh, it is such a joke that this song has become as popular as it is.
It has stayed at #4 for the past 4 weeks or so. I never liked this song, and never will.
All of the previous SOAD releases I have loved, and I own the album Toxicity, which I still listen to on occasion. I will not buy this album though, because the lead single is annoying as hell. How Mezmerize has topped the Billboard album charts is way beyond me. Who could possibly enjoy the lead single? The chorus is annoying as hell, and the verses are sloppy and messed up. It doesn't even sound like System Of A Down. Hard-rocking my hind, I would rather listen to Metallica than this crap.

To that I would say it's the album of the year that you're missing out on, except that I think "B.Y.O.B." is the finest current single that radio has to offer, so who knows what good that is.

Agreed. "Byob" is the best current single on the radio, IMO, on all formats. And the album is incredible. It's your loss

Maybe "Question!" will win him over.
That said, I don't think this album is as good as their previous efforts (including Steal This Album!) - there are still some solid songs on there, but overall it sounds like they're turning into a parody of themselves. Then again, Hypnotize is supposedly going to be a more serious album, so it may be more to my liking.

Clearly it would be, seeing as it's still in your signature. I think that it's the album of the year at this point, as well. I like it better than Steal This Album, and I think even more than the self-titled one. It's kind of splitting hairs to say I like one more than the other, though. Not to the extent of Joy Division albums, but still...
