I heard it last Friday, so I'm gonna say tomorrow is a week. Which means the "0" will stay in the "LW" column until Saturday.

This is seriously poised to jump 29-1 for next week's chart. I'd say it's time to re-assess the assurance of "Holiday" reaching #1.

This is seriously poised to jump 29-1 for next week's chart. I'd say it's time to re-assess the assurance of "Holiday" reaching #1. Yeah, it's only 400 spins away from "BoBD" so I'd say they'll have it in the bank by Saturday. I'll have to look at my archives, but I don't recall ever seeing a jump to #1 greater than either 4-1 or 5-1, so they're going to completely shatter that record. And I agree about "Holiday" mainly because "The Hand That Feeds" is racing up the chart too, and will probably be at least at #2 within a week or two. Now, depending on what kind of longevity these two songs have, it's entirely possible "Holiday" won't even peak at #2, let alone #1.

I definitely saw the possibility of Audioslave hitting #1 by Sunday, but I didn't mention it because I didn't want to get everyone's hopes up of seeing a new record. It's possible, but not probable.

I didn't really care for this song the few times it came on the radio.
But after downloading the mp3, I can't get enough of it! Been listening to it repeatedly today, definitely their best single since Like a Stone (maybe better?).
I would be very excited if this hits #1 instead of Beck/Queens of the Stone Age. It's already #1 in audience by more than 2 million.

I do LIKE the song, but after their last album, I'm slightly disappointed.

What's ironic is that they haven't even had an official #1 on alternative before.

Could someone post an mp3 of this, cause streaming it keeps slowing down my computer. I plan on buying the album, but I like this song and I don't want to wait for the album to come out.

Finally got my first listen... I love it. But, for some reason, I think it resembles something U2 would do? Does anyone else think that it sounds taylor-made for Bono?

The one on allaccess.com has the extension "r3m", which has a slightly larger panel than "r3r", which R&R uses. Both are valid, but Audioslave will jump 29-1* on the March 25 R&R Alternative chart.

The song reached to #1 at the playlist What's New by the Los Angeles radio station KROQ 106.7FM.

I can't believe it's already number one and it's not even that great. You can't even download it legally yet, what the devil.

I love this song... but the huge jump kinda throws the album release date up in the air. If they still are serious about releasing it in May, this'll lose its bullet before the album is released. But, yeah, this song is great! I love the U2-type vibe it has.

On Billboard, "What's The Frequency, Kenneth?" by R.E.M. debuted at # 1. It didn't hit # 1 on R&R until the following week, but I would assume that it debuted at # 2 or # 3 on R&R. The other big jumps to # 1 (on Billboard): 1988: Orange Crush- R.E.M. (9-1) 1989: Stand- R.E.M. (9-1) 1989: Proud To Fall- Ian McCulloch (8-1) 1990: Stop!- Jane's Addiction (6-1) 1990: Never Enough- Cure (12-1) 1991: All This Time- Sting (9-1) 1991: The Other Side Of Summer- Elvis Costello (6-1) 1992: One- U2 (8-1) 1992: The Ballad Of Peter Pumpkinhead- XTC (6-1) 1993: Soul To Squeeze- Red Hot Chili Peppers (6-1) 1994: All Apologies- Nirvana (9-1) 1995: Lightning Crashes- Live (7-1)

AUDIOSLAVE Be Yourself Producer(s): Rick Rubin Writer(s): Audioslave Publisher(s): Disappearing One Music (ASCAP); LBV Songs; Melee Savvy Music; ME3 Publishing (BMI) Genre: ROCK Label/Catalog Number: Interscope INTR-11399 (CD promo) Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: April 02, 2005
The union of former Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell and the instrumentalists of Rage Against the Machine was a commercial success, netting the band a double-platinum debut album and an impressive five top 10 rock singles. Listening to "Be Yourself," from the act's still-untitled second album, it's obvious that Audioslave took the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" attitude. Produced once again by Rick Rubin, the song is pleasant enough, but that doesn't make up for the fact that it sounds like a B-side from the band's self-titled debut. There are subtle touches that differentiate "Be Yourself" from anything on that set: Tom Morello breaks into some non-characteristic blues riffs at the end of his guitar solo, and there are some background vocals (really just Chris Cornell repeating himself). But since it's equal in tempo and melody to "Like a Stone," "Be Yourself" never really takes off. Still, with rock radio starving for marquee acts, the format has eagerly embraced the song. Here's to hoping the rest of the record is more inspired.—BT

I don't know, I kind of have mixed feelings on this. Musically, I think it's great, but I agree that the chorus is quite weak, and Cornell sounds like he's really straining himself vocally. If there's one thing I don't like, it's when rock singers who sound good without trying start to show off, and fall flat on their faces. I think Brandon Boyd of Incubus was guilty of this on their last album, and this seems to be the case here. (Granted, I don't think Brandon is a good a singer as Chris, but the same concept still applies.)

Billboard (and other music charts and magazines) date in advance. A Billboard chart released on a Thursday is dated the Saturday nine days later.

This is the song that will put Audioslave in the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame. I can see it sweeping the 2006 Grammies. I am expecting another 5-star album from Audioslave.
