Despite being a ballad, and one of their slower songs, this certainly isn't going to affect Green Day's recent dominance of Alternative.
"Boulevard of Broken Dreams", after all, was also a ballad, and became their biggest hit to this format to date.
In comparison, this ballad is slower, but still has those aggressive power chords after running through the first verse, is still recognizable as an Alternative-friendly track, and, of course, sounds very much like Green Day.
This may or may not go #1 here. I believe it can as much of the competition right now are coming from those sorts of bands whose singles are known for slower, more lengthier chart runs and longevity. In terms of quick gains, Green Day has no real present competition. Audioslave and Foo Fighters are the two bands I think they'll be competing with the most, but both are currently absorbed with current singles.
Even if this becomes the first single from this album not to go #1 here, it'll still peak in the Top 5 and it is bound to go Top 10 on CHR/Pop and Hot AC.
My Prediction: #1
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I actually kind of have my doubts about this song's performance on Alternative. It should have no problem going top 10, but considering the competition, the mellowness of the song, and the fact that it's the fourth single could hurt the song. In fact, I dare say that this song might peak higher at CHR/Pop and/or HAC.
My prediction: #4

In fact, I dare say that this song might peak higher at CHR/Pop and/or HAC. My prediction: #4 The fact it's a fourth single isn't going to be a factor to Green Day here. It certainly wasn't a factor to Audioslave or Linkin Park. Green Day's hype still hasn't tired out yet. The record is still pulling in strong consistent sales, it's on its way to quadruple-platinum status, they're one of the Top 3 bands in the world right now, and they've gained that "cool factor" title back. All this hype together will easily overshadow this being recognized as a fourth single here, and I'd say Green Day is also good to go for a fifth single following this, which I hope its "Jesus of Seburbia". If there is a factor to this single's performance, it isn't going to be what numbered single it is, but rather the competition itself, and arguably being one of their more mellow releases of their career. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Already getting added. That's good but I guess it'll take a while before it is added on CHR/Pop.
I hope it goes top5.

I remember it not testing too well on 89X's People Choice. It was put up against some song and it lost horribly for some reason.

I have no doubt it'll do great on Alt. I wonder, however, how it'll do on AR and Rock. "The Reason" was top 5 on AR, I know. It'll fun to watch, I guess. (I'm not saying it's the wrong choice for the next single ;))

Time Of Your Life went to #1. They've done it before, they'll do it again. :) I wouldn't be so quick to compare alternative radio 10 years ago with alternative radio now.

I would, blue-collar rock is completely gone, well, besides Crossfade, and Green Day might even, well, probably are more popular than they were 10 years ago. Not to mention, many artists from 10 years ago are getting a lot of love lately, Beck, Weezer, Audioslave (Soundgarden\Rage), etc.

JCMF is an idiot. All he or she does is try to hear him or herself talk by saying rediculous comments, that is followed by one of those lame yellow faces to make up for whatever "witty" comment he or she has said.

We're not debating if the fourth single off of Third Eye Blind's new cd is going #1.

He does have a point, though. Goo Goo Dolls aren't going to be big on Alt these days. That's not really a very good example. I would throw the Good Goo Dolls in with others like Rob Thomas. It's not that the style of alt these days is so drastically different, but some groups have really trended much more toward pop and away from alt in recent years. The bands that had success 10 years ago and have stayed true to their sound are enjoying success once again like Beck, Foo Fighters, Garbage, Nine Inch Nails, The Offspring and others. I agree with friday who said Green Day has done it before and will do it again.

I got the album not too long ago and have just listened once. Is this the track that starts off very slow and then picks up a little bit? If so, it's pretty darn goodd (well, as the whole album is, based on my listening).

This track is great, and a change of pace from the rest of the album. When I picked up the CD last September, I loved this song after the first listen. I really hope it does well across a few formats.

Not to mention, if someone called me an idiot for doing that or for some other post, I care zero, it's a messageboard.

Not that there's necessarily anything wrong with them.
