As I worked on adding up point totals for the year so far to get a head-start last night, I realized that there are going to be two artists in the top 5 with double entries! Never before have two seperate artists pulled this off, and it's been done only once by a single artist:
1997 #1. Paula Cole - Where Have All the Cowboys Gone? #3. Paula Cole - I Don't Want to Wait
I don't want to reveal who the two acts are yet, but I'll update this thread in two weeks to let you know. VERY interesting top 5! Any one else wound up with a single artist heavy top 5?

2002 #3: Jimmy Eat World - The Middle (1091) #4: Jimmy Eat World - Sweetness (872)
This year, one artist had the #1 and #5 song in points, but I do have to point out (like I did in the thread about point differentials between #1 and #2) that my year-end chart is not based solely on points this year. On the year-end chart, there is no artist with two songs in the top 5, but there are two artists with two songs in the top 10.

ACTS WITH MULTIPLE YEAR END TOP 5 SINGLES
1978 [blue]JOHN TRAVOLTA & OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN[/blue] #1 "You're The One That I Want" #2 "Summer Nights"
1979 [blue]DONNA SUMMER[/blue] #1 "Heaven Knows" #2 "Hot Stuff" Donna Summer was also at #7 with "Bad Girls".
1984 [blue]POINTER SISTERS[/blue] #3 "Jump For My Love" #4 "I'm So Excited"
1985 [blue]MADONNA[/blue] #1 "Into The Groove" #4 "Dress You Up" Madonna was also at #6 with "Crazy For You".
1987 [blue]WHITNEY HOUSTON[/blue] #2 "Didn't We Almost Have It All" #3 "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"
1990 [blue]MARIAH CAREY[/blue] #2 "Vision Of Love" #5 "Love Takes Time"
1998 [blue]SHANIA TWAIN[/blue] #1 "From This Moment On" #2 "You're Still The One" Shania Twain was also at #10 with "Honey, I'm Home".
2002 [blue]BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN[/blue] #1 "Lonesome Day" #3 "The Rising"
So to answer the question, I have never had two acts have multiple year end Top 5 singles at the same time. I have had, however, up to three acts have multiple Top 10 hits the same year, but that would be under a different topic.

It's never happened! The closest I've ever had is that M2M and Aaliyah both had two in the Top 10 last year.

For MT40, it's kinda something that happens a lot. If I get a CD that I would consider "huge" by my standards, chances are a few songs from it will be "huge" on MT40 and gather up tons of points. I don't have exact figures for MT40 now though.
As for The Max: 1998 #4 Chantal Kreviazuk - Hands #1 Chantal Kreviazuk - Leaving On A Jet Plane
Natalie Imbruglia was #6 and #3 with 'Torn' and 'Wishing I Was There' respectively.
Chantal Kreviazuk was officially #8, #6 and #1 in 2000. However, she was #1, #2 and #3 if I had gone strictly by points. I admit I deliberately added bonus points so that didn't happen.
In 2002, Alanis Morissette was #9 and #2 with 'Precious Illusions'.
I'm slightly surprised that it only happened once on The Max. I don't think it will happen this year though as no artist had more than one really big hit as far as I can remember right now.

I've only had two year-end charts so far, and it's happened on both. I know it'll happen again this year with at least one artist, not sure about two.
*Update* So it did end up happening with just one artist this year, and this one artist actually holds down all top 3 positions..
2003:
Christina Aguilera #1 Fighter #2 Beautiful #3 Can't Hold Us Down
2002:
Christina Aguilera #1 Dirrty #3 Infatuation
Justin Timberlake #2 Girlfriend (Remix) ['N Sync] #5 Like I Love You
2001:
Janet #1 All For You #3 Someone To Call My Lover
Christina Aguilera #2 Lady Marmalade #4 Nobody Wants To Be Lonely
