Avril Lavigne scores her first #1 single on MT40 with 'Don't Tell Me'. The song entered the Top 40 the week after 'Everything' with a second place record for most added in one week ever behind Alanis as well as second greatest gainer ever behind Alanis but strangely enough, Avril passes Alanis to #1. Her past charting include two #40 peakers (Skater Boy and Losing Grip), a #33 hit (Complicated), a #12 hit (I'm With You), a seven week #11 peaking (I Don't Give), a #6 hit (Knockin' On Heaven's Door) and her most recent #4 hit (My World). She has three songs on the chart this week.

'Don't Tell Me' marks the year's 13th #1 single. I'm not sure what the numbers are for other years but 2004 could be a record year for the most #1s ever.

Jason Mraz impacts this week with his fourth single from his CD and the song is nearing the Top 40. So far on MT40, his first three hits all went to #1. 'The Remedy' for 4 weeks, 'You And I Both' for 3 and 'Curbside Prophet' for 2.

Sarah McLachlan had her first Top 40 (and Top 10) hit back in 1995 with 'Ice Cream' but it wasn't until late last year that she finally got her first #1 with 'Fallen'. 'World On Fire' enters this week.
