I know that, I was wondering if there's a category for "Best remix" in general since many remixes aren't dance remixes. I didn't think there were that many remixes though. If you can list a whole ton of songs for possibility then I'll make the category. ;) I'm always open to new suggestions for categories as long as the suggestion period is ongoing so if you want to, you can make it!
Best Remix - Non-Dance -- remixes that aren't dance-related go here. Be sure to list the remixer as the award is credited to them.
Best Collaboration -- artists that don't normally collaborate or that aren't a formed group belong here. Shaye, for example, don't belong here. Jay-Z and Beyounce would.

Guys, the deadline to suggest songs and artists for nomination is this Friday at midnight. After midnight, Matt will lock all of the Music Award Nomination Suggestion topics so whatevers in here will be what will be chosen for the suggestions.
The next step will involve all of the suggested songs to be chosen for the official nomination list. I'm not positive how I will make it work. I'm considering getting people to choose only certain formats when they choose nominations so that the format will be "credible". Any suggestions, please make them in the Your Opinion Please topic of the same name.

Guys, what I'm thinking I might do is actually "appoint" people that seem to know various formats to pick nominations. I'm not sure how it would work though if I do that. I would probably pick 5 people for the Smooth Jazz and then hopefully those 5 people would talk it over amongst each other to choose the best 5 for the categories. I doubt that'll happen though. I could say that everyone who votes for the nominations can only vote in two of the formats (so only vote for the two CHR/Pop ones and then the two Urban/R&B awards, for example) but if I did that, the Smooth Jazz and Latin nominations might not get chosen thus no awards for them. I could simply leave all of the format awards open to everyone to vote as they want for the nominations but that's not really fair for the formats where people that aren't that knowledgable will vote. Another idea I just thought of is to have everyone vote for all of the formats they want but to seperate two of the formats that they want most to count. That way, if nobody chooses Latin or Smooth Jazz, for example, as their top format, I could simply use what was suggested. But that's probably too much work. I'd rather not leave all of the formats open though...

Ok guys, I know what I'll do. I'll get people to PM the formats that they'll want to choose nominations for. There will be no limit to the amount of formats you can vote for the nominations. When you PM me, I'll PM you back with all of the choices and then you pick yours.
Let's say Member1 PMs me saying he wants to pick nominations for: Remix of the Year Hot AC Triple A Country Latin Pop
I'll send the suggestions for all of the formats and then he'll pick 5 of the best from each category.

Why do you keep saying "guys"? What about the "girls"? I remember reading this whole article on that topic in the feminist magazine "Bitch"! :) They were saying how some people say "Hey guys!" to a group of three girls and one guy. It should be "Hey people!"
Underrated/Underperformed Track: Jessica Andrews, "Good Time" Rachel Farris, "I'm Not The Girl" Rebecca Lynn Howard, "What A Shame"

That way, if nobody chooses Latin or Smooth Jazz, for example, as their top format, I could simply use what was suggested. But that's probably too much work. I'd rather not leave all of the formats open though... Okay, here's my suggestions. I don't think you should be "appointing" people. If someone says they don't know about Smooth Jazz, why are you going to force people into that. If only one or two people is THAT knowledgable in the format, then you should really just let those people make the decisions. If they're knowledgable of the format, they will make better decisions than someone who will be like "I like her name best, so I vote for her" or "I just downloaded all the songs and I like this one best". I think people who have let these songs age on them throughout the year are those who will make the best decisions. If there is NO ONE willing to participate in the panel of a certain format, then I say you should dump the award. Because if you told me I could only vote for two awards, I'd probably go for R&B and Rap, while Dance and Smooth Jazz would go down in people who could participate on that panel. You may drop really low, as far as knowledgable people go, in that category now, so it would be like a cycle. Limiting people is going to drop the overall number of the panel participants. What you should do is let people do as many formats as they want just as long as you believe that they are knowledgable in that format. Let's say "eyeball" for insance wants to be on the panel for Alternative. It's pretty obvious that he hates Alternative music. If possible, during the final voting process, I think the best idea would be to let people cast a "blank vote" for a category. If someone has not heard any of the songs in a category, I don't think they should be deciding awards by "eeny meeny miny mo". Next, for the "Best Album Track" or "Best Unreleased Track" category or whatever you call it, I believe you should wait until the last minute to decide what should be nominated. Last year, I'm pretty sure that we actually had some songs in that category that had become singles between the nomination and final award periods. Finally, since I told you what panels I want to participate in, do I still have to PM you?

Re: John for best Song from a Soundtrack, I'm not sure but I don't think Kelly's song would be eligable because it appeared on her CD first, didn't it? Thus chances are, it wasn't written for that soundtrack.Okay, here's my suggestions. I don't think you should be "appointing" people. If someone says they don't know about Smooth Jazz, why are you going to force people into that. Last year, I'm pretty sure that we actually had some songs in that category that had become singles between the nomination and final award periods. Finally, since I told you what panels I want to participate in, do I still have to PM you? I made that post because I decided what I was going to do. ;) But yeah, you are right. And even if there are only two people for the Latin awards, for example, that's enough people to decide, depending on how we do it. I'm not sure how I'll have the nominees be chosen. For the all-formats, where there are a lot of people, I'll just have people send in their votes (probably in numerical order from 1-5 or something, their five favourites, perhaps) but for the formats with not a lot of people, I'd like to try to get all the people together somehow to have a sortof discussion or something. That's the next thing for me to work out.
As for the album tracks, you're right. By the time the winner was announced, TLC's song was on the chart and they ended up winning anyway so they had an unfair advantage. So that category I'll get people to vote for nominees on differently and then when I officially release the nominations, if any of the Top 5 choices are released or planned for released, I'll remove it in favour of the 6th best choice.
