That's what you get for starting your career with a novelty song...look at Eamon, has he had another hit? Nope. (and thank God.)

We all get pissed when radio refuses to play a perfectly good song for no apparent reason. Let's make a list of the hits radio screwed over the past year. Mine is mainly CHR-focused. (I Hate) Everything About You by Three Days Grace (it didn't flop THAT bad, but it should have been a huge Alternative crossover.) You obviously do NOT live in Canada. That song's played every 20 minutes even NOW! It's nuts. Let's see...Mis-Teeq's "Scandalous" and "One Night Stand". Jamelia's "Superstar", awesome track no one cared enough about to play. Sugababes' "Hole In The Head". You'd think that being a big hit on the West Coast would influence the east coast to take heed. Obviously not, no one east of California (except in Thunder Bay, Ontario for some ODD reason) actually played this song.

Y100 in Miami did, a handful of times. I agree tho.
"Scandalous" did pretty well, but "One Night Stand" was screwed.
Did "Superstar" even go for adds? If it did, it was screwed.

I would think it would have to have. I don't think EMI would just dump the record onto store shelves without at least attempting to push it on radio. If EMI didn't, EMI's stupider than I thought.

Wait...Jamelia released an album in the U.S.? I think i'm missing something, because I never saw it on the shelves. The only thing she's come out w/ here is a song on the "Simple Life" soundtrack.

And Queer Eye. Superstar was on that soundtrack as well. The album was at LEAST released in Canada, as I have a copy in my hand as we speak, and it's not an import. Maybe they didn't release the album in America, but I don't know for sure.

Lara Fabian - The Last Goodbye on AC, she got only 50 spins per week on mediabase!
Jem - They, I fell in love with her music.
Gwen Stefani - What you waiting for in USA, but in Canada it's a hit.

Jessica Simpson - "Angels It got played plenty. My list would include songs like Jamelia's "Superstar", Sugababes' "Hole in the Head" (the UK really has a knack for letting these type of songs do well), Lindsay Lohan's "Rumours" (like her or not, this song was jam), Mis-teeq's "Scandalous" (although it got almost overplayed on my local station), Lara Fabian's "The Last Goodbye" (one of the best ballads I've heard in recent years), Michelle Branch's "Breathe", Pink's "God is a DJ" (or was that last year?), Black Eyed Peas' "Let's Get Retarded" and "Hey Mama" (neither got what they deserved), Joss Stone's "You Had Me" (this song is fucking hot). The biggest screw over is the lack of a release in North America for Darren Hayes' "Popular" - one of the best songs of the year for me.

"The Last Goodbye" should have been an AC smash for Lara Fabian. It was miles better than the last couple of Celine releases, and those had no problem making the chart.

I think her cover of it was terrible. "Angels" is one of the best ballads in recent memory and Jessica all but utterly destroyed it. Don't get me wrong, I think Jessica's a good enough singer, but she oversings everything she does to the point of it being painful. "Take My Breath Away" shouldn't've done as it did either. She's good when she sings original, partially because she's not raping memories of versions past.

I like "Angels" until the end, & then I go blah, but I still think it should have been a top 20 hit..but I just reccently heard Robbie William's version & must I say yuck, it's so bad, I didn't know that guy was so bad (imp)...& "Take My Breath Away" well I hate the original, I think Jessica made it, unlike Berlin...& ya I know no1 will agree w/ me but oh well..lol

Maybe it's just that I am such a Robbie fan and hate Jessica so much, but upon hearing that Angels was on her album, I yelled "blasphemy" at the TV. I find it deplorable, the remaking of this song I find useless and it seems to lose its meaning when she does it.
I think it got far more than it deserved, really. However, i'm satisfied that it didn't pass Robbie's US charting for the song, low as it was.

Robbie Williams may not be the best singer in the world (bottom line is he isn't even close), but his version of the song kicks Jessica's in places she couldn't even name. And I can understand that you don't appreciate the 80s music style from the original TMBA. Nonetheless, I still feel that her covers were insulting to the original versions. And at that, it's not like either song was begging to be covered - it was needless slaughter for personal gain (and fortunately for all of us, the personal gain wasn't that great).

Even though Toxic was #9 on Billboard 200, I think it deserved the #1 spot. Do you seriously think My boo is better than a quality original creative song like Toxic? Come on now. It's a total conspiracy.

Yeah, I heard the vocals on "My Boo" actually came from real people! Imagine that! :o Whatever. It was a better song overall. A lot of people I know love her voice. She wouldn't have sold so many albums if she didn't have the whole package. ;)

Britney is not a good singer - that is not how she made her career. She's not the first person to do it this way, and won't be the last. "Toxic" was the most original song of the year and should've been number one for a month.

And it was a multi-week number 1 on Britney's core format. Anyone expecting a song that doesn't have urban airplay to draw from to hit #1 on the Hot 100 the way it is presently structured is setting himself or herself up for disappointment.
