I just felt like posting this for the hell of it. One note is this is the first chart in three weeks as September 3rd's was replaced by an end-of-summer countdown, and last week's was cancelled because of the Hurricane Katrina relief concert. So those (Last Week) numbers date back to August 27th.
20) Foo Fighters - DOA (Debut) 19) Relient K - Be My Escape (15) 18) Bloodhound Gang - Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo (Debut) 17) My Chemical Romance - Ghost of You (Debut) 16) Foo Fighters - Best of You (16) 15) White Stripes - My Doorbell (Debut) 14) Seether - Remedy (9) 13) Franz Ferdinand - Do You Want To (Debut) 12) The Bravery - Fearless (12) 11) My Chemical Romance - Helena (11) 10) Hot Hot Heat - Middle of Nowhere (14) 9) System of a Down - Question (13) 8) Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc. (5) 7) Hawthorne Heights - Ohio is for Lovers (4) 6) Rise Against - Swing Life Away (6) 5) Green Day - Wake Me Up When September Ends (10) 4) Avenged Sevenfold - Bat Country (8) 3) All-American Rejects - Dirty Little Secret (7) 2) Fall Out Boy - Sugar, We're Goin' Down (2) 1) Nine Inch Nails - Only (1)
Falling Off: Kings of Leon - Four Kicks (from #20) Incubus - Make A Move (from #19) Alkaline Trio - Time to Waste (from #18) Audioslave - Your Time Has Come (from #17) The Killers - All These Things That I've Done (from #3)
A couple of other notes: MCR's been on the chart for over a year now with at least one video. I remember them saying "I'm Not Okay" spent 26 weeks on, and I think this is "Helena"'s 28th week on, which probably sets or ties the all-time record. And yes, The Killers did fall off from the top 3 (I'm not certain it was #3 though), and it probably didn't matter that there was a 2-week layoff because lately they've been pulling videos from as high as #1. Not really sure why, but whatever.

I started watching from "Middle Of Nowhere" on to the #1, but I missed "Dirty Little Secret". I didn't even notice The Killers were gone.

I couldn't believe it when AAR & Fall Out Boy were #3 and #2. It makes no sense that the "Best of You" and "Helena" were left alone, but not The Killers.
But hey, I ain't complaining. ;)
I see Avenged Sevenfold either being leapfrogged by Green Day or, if they do hit #1, it'll only be for a week before Green Day takes over. Fall Out Boy, despite having to stay put, I don't see being denied.

I'd be pretty happy if "Bat Country" makes it to #1, but Green Day's likely to reign for a while.
I'm not complaining about "All These Things..."'s absence either.

It's interesting how "We Are All On Drugs" also remains absent from the list. Is MTV failing to be able to chop certain words out from the lyrics to make the song G-rated?

Wow, no wonder I haven't seen it on MTV yet. I hadn't thought about that.
I'm reasonably sure A7X will be #1 on the weekends for a bit. They were the weekly guest on last week's daily rock countdowns and "Bat Country" nudged out "Wake Me Up" from #1 by like, Wednesday and hasn't let up since.
Also, it's ridiculous for "Fearless" to be on the countdown still, because a) while I didn't have MTV2 over the summer, the only time I've seen it since the last weekend of August has been on that previous Rock Countdown. And b) it was an aborted 2nd single in the US!

I've decided to keep track of these every week until I get bored of doing it, or accept that nobody's reading it should it reach that point. And I'll keep them all in here so I don't have to litter the forum with a thread every week. 20) The Bravery - Unconditional (Debut) 19) Relient K - Be My Escape (19) 18) Motion City Soundtrack - Everything Is Alright (Debut) 17) Weezer - We Are All In Love (Debut) 16) Seether - Remedy (14) 15) Coheed and Cambria - The Suffering (Debut) 14) Bloodhound Gang - Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo (18) 13) Hot Hot Heat - Middle of Nowhere (10) 12) White Stripes - My Doorbell (15) 11) My Chemical Romance - The Ghost of You (17) 10) Foo Fighters - DOA (20) 9) Franz Ferdinand - Do You Want To (13) 8) My Chemical Romance - Helena (11) 7) Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc. (8) 6) Hawthorne Heights - Ohio is for Lovers (7) 5) Rise Against - Swing Life Away (6) 4) All-American Rejects - Dirty Little Secret (3) 3) System of a Down - Question (9) 2) Avenged Sevenfold - Bat Country (4) 1) Green Day - Wake Me Up When September Ends (5) Falling Off: Foo Fighters - Best of You (from #16) The Bravery - Fearless (from #12) Fall Out Boy - Sugar We're Goin' Down (from #2) Nine Inch Nails - Only (from #1) Notes: So, MTV's latest musical bastardization is indeed Weezer's latest video. What's interesting to me is that they censored this one and "Hash Pipe", yet "Dope Nose" somehow got by OK. "Helena" actually marks its 27th week on, which, according to them, sets the all-time record. So that basically means that MCR owns the two longest-charting video in the history of this countdown (about 3 ½ years, I think). I wouldn't be surprised if "The Ghost of You" only lasts 10 or so weeks, though. Right, Nine Inch Nails?

17) Weezer - We Are All In Love (Debut) Oh man. Do they say that in the video, or just bleep out "drugs"?

17) Weezer - We Are All In Love (Debut) Oh man. Do they say that in the video, or just bleep out "drugs"? Yep, "in love" is subsituted wherever "on drugs" is actually said in the song, chorus, verses, you name it. There's also a scene where Rivers is reading a newspaper with the headline reading "We Are All On Drugs", but MTV just blurs this out. It's a shame too, because I think the video is quite good, and might have actually turned my opinion of song to absolutely positive (as opposed to being lukewarm right now), but if I'm hearing what's ostensibly a different version of the song, now I'm not so sure.

They should've changed the title to "We Are All On Jugs". Then they wouldn't have had to re-record the vocals.

They really need to do two things:
1. Stop removing videos from places that that shouldn't be happening. This week's case is flat out ridiculous!
2. They need to make sure they get the LW position right on the show. They erred three times during this week's countdown (at 12, 5, and 1).
And why the hell are Relient K STILL on the Countdown??

If I were Weezer, I would've told MTV to go fuck themselves, rather than change "on drugs" to "in love." God, this countdown is so arbitrary. So yeah, feel free to let a dinosaur break the band's own record; just lop off the #1 video to make room.

This is a countdown compiled by viewer votes, is it? Umm technically yes..... I try to like this countdown cause its the only place I can really see a bunch of rock videos without having to endure thru another Mike Jones video, but its getting just too ridiculous with songs just falling off for no apparent reason.

Grr I wanted to see Avenged Sevenfold go to number one Yeah, that'd have been nice, but don't count on it now.
This week was definitely more stable than last week. Although, I wonder why Bloodhound Gang dropped 3 spots? That doesn't seem to make sense.

Grr I wanted to see Avenged Sevenfold go to number one Ditto! Haha, ditto ditto. But since it's dropped, the likelihood of that happening to getting smaller and smaller. "The Ghost Of You" should do well, I think.

Well, surprise, surprise, A7X doubters. 20) Gorillaz - Dare (Debut) 19) Hot Hot Heat - Middle of Nowhere (18) 18) Bloodhound Gang - Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo (17) 17) Hawthorne Heights - Ohio is for Lovers (12) 16) Audioslave - Doesn't Remind Me (20) 15) Motion City Soundtrack - Everything is Alright (16) 14) The Bravery - Unconditional (15) 13) My Chemical Romance - Helena (11) 12) Gorillaz - Feel Good, Inc. (10) 11) Weezer - We Are All In Love (14) 10) Coheed and Cambria - The Suffering (13) 9) The White Stripes - My Doorbell (9) 8) Rise Against - Swing Life Away (6) 7) Franz Ferdinand - Do You Want To (7) 6) All-American Rejects - Dirty Little Secret (4) 5) My Chemical Romance - The Ghost of You (8) 4) System of a Down - Question (2) 3) Foo Fighters - DOA (5) 2) Green Day - Wake Me Up When September Ends (1) 1) Avenged Sevenfold - Bat Country (3) Falling Off: Seether - Remedy (from #19) Notes: For some reason, when doing the recaps for 20-11 and 10-2, they showed last week's recaps. My only guess is because MTV2 tries to do as much as they can to make us think they're produced by a high school AV staff. Also, when A7X came up as #1, they put last week as #1. Something I find interesting is that after April 23rd or so, I don't recall any videos lasting more than three weeks at #1. Before this, three videos held #1 for a total of 23 weeks. Jimmy Eat World's "Pain" spent 7 weeks at #1, then a record, was replaced by Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" which tied Jimmy's record, and then The Killers' "Mr. Brightside" spent 9 weeks at #1 (and had also spent all of BOBD's "#1-weeks at #2). Green Day's "Holiday" followed that up, but I seem to remember this being the first of the videos they started removing near the top of the chart.

Also, when A7X came up as #1, they put last week as #1. They also showed WMUWSE as LW: 3.
Sevenfold may have hit #1 after all, but with the Foos and MCR coming up fast, it won't last long.
Speaking of the Foos, I've made an interesting mathematical observation regarding DOA's run so far - it seems to have a half-life condition. It started at 20, then jumped half the distance to #1 the next week (10). Then last week after that it jumped half the remaining distance (5). Now this week it's again, half the remaining distance (3). That would mean next week it'll be #2, and then the week after that it'll hit #1.

I was rather surprised at the Foos' two-spot drop, but if SOAD's equal-size resurgence is any indication, they're not done for yet. (But really...the Foos done for this early? Yeah, right.)
Equally surprising is "Ohio is For Lovers" staying on the countdown while "Swing Life Away", nine spots up last week, gets the hook.
Next week looks like a legitimate three-way-dance between Avenged Sevenfold, System of a Down, and My Chemical Romance. I don't see the Foos going to #1 just yet.

Also... My only guess is because MTV2 tries to do as much as they can to make us think they're produced by a high school AV staff. This week was no different. They got the recaps right, but botched "DOA" 's last week position; AND during "The Ghost of You", when they had the insert of "Helena" still being on the Countdown, they said it had been #5 last week!
Is that ridiculous or what?
