aren't these charts very fast moving? i'm just wondering because it seems like 10 weeks would like a MAX on the chart Which charts? UK Charts are very fast moving, Australian charts are in the middle (not fast like UK, but not dead slow like US). My list applies to Australia and UK and also US where the artist has released material.

Wanted to add a couple that might not be on the radar at first glance, in no particular order:
1. Hilary Duff - cemented her status as the new teen queen of pop. 2. Robbie Williams - released a successful album this year, while still riding the coattails of his previous effort. Living up the money he was paid. 3. Lumidee - Huge single for an unknown artist. 4. Kelis - becoming more mainstream due to Milkshake, see her having a big 2004 when her album is released in Dec. 5. Black Eyed Peas - Huge single, sales for a formerly undergroud group. 6. Stacy Orrico - two top 10 pop singles in US, huge star in Asian market now. 7. Clay Aiken - shocked industry with amazing sales. 8. Chingy - platinum artist, two top 10 BB singles. 9. Ludacris - topped first-week album sales of last album by more than 100,000 10. Jessica Simpson - Album sales not great, but professionally she is in demand. 11. Shania Twain - keeps going, and going, and going. Amazing worldwide sales yet again. 12. Luther V. - need I say more? 13. Uncle Kracker - Drift Away was biggest single of career. 14. Daniel Bedingfield - managed more success in US market than counterpart Robbie Williams. 15. Sarah McLachlan - huge first-week sales showed her relevancy in today's US market. 16. Missy Elliott - Work It was one of the biggest songs of '03 and her album sales were among best ever. 17. Heather Headley - became more of a household name in '03 and "I Wish I Wasn't" could nab her a Grammy nod.

1. Hilary Duff - cemented her status as the new teen queen of pop. Umm, I think this is a little too strong. Having one single crossover to pop and that single only go top 15 and now plummeting off the chart is VERY far from being "cemented" as a teen pop queen. Using your logic, Stacie Orrico is leaps and bounds ahead of that. The Good:Clay Aiken 50 Cent matchbox twenty Christina Aguilera Stacie Orrico The Bad:Pink :( Dixie Chicks :( Ruben Studdard Celine Dion :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( Justin Guarini

Hasn't their album just come out? I think it's a little bit early to make this claim, and I'm assuming because it didn't debut on this Billboard 200 chart that it was released yesterday.
I also think despite the airplay blockade, Dixie Chicks had a neutral year overall. They have a loyal fanbase still, particularly liberal and moderate, and their tour was the most successful country tour and among the Top-10 Tours of all in 2003.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I think Chantal had a decent year. Her CD didn't exactly sell well and she didn't have any HUGE hits but at the same time, she didn't really flop (well, in Canada).
Jewel had a good year, imo. Sure, 'Stand' flopped but her CD and 'Intuition' did GREAT!
Jason Mraz had a GREAT year!

how come no one mentions J.lo on the bad list? This has got to be the most Gigli year of her entire career.

She's on pace to outsell Beyonce and Christina, that equates to a lot.

Goes to show just how bad it was. Everyone has forgotten her. She's not even on the cover of the tabloids these days.
