Personally, I am disappointed by this selection.
How the heck could Eminem and R.E.M's latest be on there? "Encore" has gotten very mediocre reviews, and is considered the worst Eminem studio release among most critics. And "Around the Sun" is considered by most critics to be R.E.M's career worst, many comparing its sound to a "death wheeze".
Velvet Revolver's "Contraband" has gotten generally favorable reviews but nothing stellar, worthy enough to make the year-end top fifty.
I also happen to think Rolling Stone has a biased liking of the Rolling Stones. A live compilation has made the list here, which I think only studio releases should qualify.
Aerosmith...forgettable.
This list just appears overall quite mainstream. Not enough eclectic selections.
Of course, though this selection is flawed, it's not as bad as the fan-selected Top Music Videos of 2004 list! ;)
