Who are some artists who's albums get better, but singles get worse? Meaning, the album tracks usually get better, but the singles released are either crappy because they released the wrong ones, or because their singles aren't as strong as their other singles off of earlier albums.
The best example i can think of here is Britney Spears. The 4 singles off of her "Baby One More Time" album are all great, but the album in general, sucks due to the other album tracks being very weak. The follow-up album, "Oops!...I Did It Again" was a great album compared to BOMT, but the singles released off of it are nowhere near as good as the BOMT singles. Then comes "Britney", while not as strong as her "Oops!..." album, it's still better than the BOMT album, but the singles released off of this album were really horrible! Those were her worst singles to date, in my opinion. And now "In The Zone" brings you the 1st single "Me Against The Music", the song is viewed as very weak compared to all the other first singles from the other albums, but the album is one of Britney's bests, behind "Oops!". Judging by the singles she will release next, it looks like the trend will continue. Even though "Outrageous" and "Boom Boom" are great, they don't compare to the singles released off of BOMT and even OIDIA.

hmmm-I kind of agree about the Britney thing. The singles from BOMT were excellent, all of them. I thought the Oops singles were good too. But the single choices for Britney and ITZ look crappy even though the overall albums are pretty good. Britney is better than her debut, but the singles were worse. Does that make sense? lol. I guess I cannot say anything about ITZ yet because the next singles have only been rumored, not confirmed.

I kinda think Jewel.
Although 'Spirit' as a whole is worse than 'Pieces of You' but the singles were probably better when compared to the non-singles. With 'Pieces Of You', the singles were as good as the album tracks but there's a clear difference between album and single tracks on 'Spirit'. For 'This Way', the album was MUCH better but the single choices were worse. '0304' is too different to really tell.
