Wow, Eyeball posted a positive thread.
What songs did you really like that didn't do well on the charts?
Paulina Rubio "Don't Say Goodbye" - This deserved #1, or at least Top 10. TLC "Damaged" - Same as above. Thalia "Baby I'm In Love" - Why did this have to flop? Especially after "I Want You" hit Top 10. Dream f. Loon "Crazy" Lasgo "Something" Roc Project "Never" - After all the dance stuff in 2002, there was almost nothing in 2003. This sounds kinda like DJ Sammy's "Heaven" and should have hit Top 5. Blu Cantrell f. Sean Paul "Breathe" - I wish I had put this higher than #12 on my chart... Field Mob "Sick Of Being Lonely" Celine Dion "I Drove All Night" - The only song of hers that I really liked... Fabolous f. Lil Mo "Can't Let You Go" This definitely should have done better than #24. It's very pop-friendly, and way better than that crappy "Into You." Jewel "Stand" - This was better than "Intuition" but didn't even hit the Top 40. Christina Milan "AM To PM" Big Tymers "Still Fly" Jessica Simpson "A Little Bit" Fabolous "Can't Deny It" Jewel "Standing Still" Darren Hayes "Insatiable" - I remember this one falling REALLY fast... IIO "Rapture" - The weird thing is, I didn't like the song when it was popular... Toya "No Matter What" Monica "All Eyes On Me"

Alanis Morissette "Hands Clean" - This did NOT deserve to miss the Top 20. >:( IIO "Rapture (Tastes So Sweet)" - Who can explain why it fell so fast? Shakira "Objection (Tango)" - Why'd this have to suffer TSS? :( Faith Hill "Cry" - One of two Pop chart travesties titled "Cry". TLC "Girl Talk" - I think this should've done better than it did. The Donnas "Take it Off" - Likewise. No Doubt "Running" - Stupid FSS... >:( Nelly Furtado "Powerless (Say What You Want)" - See Alanis Morissette.

Christina Aguilera-Dirrty: The underperforming of this song still kind of bugs me, even though she has recovered.

Here are some of the more recent ones:
"Private Emotion" by Ricky Martin - my top song of 2000, yet it barely touched the Top 30. Yet 'N Sync managed to clutter up the top spot for ten weeks.
"Insatiable" by Darren Hayes. I really thought this song was going to be a huge song, yet it only got up to, what, 27? It didn't even do that well at A/C, where, if a Savage Garden song charted, it was pretty much a given to be #1 (except for "Crash and Burn")
"Pretty Baby" by Vanessa Carlton. This song suffered TSS. After a monster song and another good-sized one in 2002, this song only managed to make it to the halfway point of the chart. I wonder if it makes the Top 100? Oh well, even if it doesn't, I'm sure when I do my version of 2003's charts, I'll be able to give it enough points to make it. If not, tough noogies, I guess.
"I Showed Her" by O-Town. This song didn't even hit the Top 40. And, so far, it's my top song of 2003.
"Baby I Love U" by Jennifer Lopez. So many of her sucky hits topped the chart for weeks. This was the very first song of hers that's gone to #1 on my personal Top 30, yet it only managed to hit #26.

One that instantly comes to mind is "Perfect Gentleman" by Wyclef Jean...I LOVED that song and it did nothing on the charts...

Vanessa Carlton - Pretty Baby The Donnas - Take It Off Evanescence - Going Under Toya - No Matta What (Party All Night) {this was 2003??} Jewel - Stand Hilary Duff - so Yesterday American Juniors - One Step Closer Jewel - Serve the Ego
But the biggest (and most underrated song of 2003) is....
"I Must Not Chase the Boys" by Play
This could have been a huge hit if it would have been a more popular group. Definitely the most underrated record of 2003. One of the Top 5 songs of the year. Maybe the Record of the Year.

It actually came out in early 2002. It may not have gotten very high, but it certainly spent long enough at the bottom of the pop chart, as I'm sure some people here remember. By the way, I thought we were listing songs we loved that didn't do well on "the charts"? Quite a few songs have been listed that did poorly on pop but fine on one or more other formats. Here's my list: Crazytown- Drowning Charlotte Church- Would I Know Toya- No Matta What Blu Cantrell f/ Sean Paul- Breathe(the only song by or featuring Sean Paul that I actually like)

Crazytown- Drowning Blu Cantrell f/ Sean Paul- Breathe Oh, add these to my list! "Drowning" was totally underrated because of the band and "Breathe"... I'm not really sure why that didn't do well. I mean, Sean Paul was in it, wasn't he?
