In your opinion, what were the top 5 biggest hits of this year? And i don't only mean airplay. What songs had major impact and were very well recieved by the general public? What songs shook up 2003? Here is what i think.
1. 50 Cent "In Da Club"-This is without a doubt the biggest hit of 2003. The major impact it has had everywhere, and it was the club anthem of 2003. 50 Cent is the biggest act of the year because of this song. A Rap Classic.
2. Beyonce f/ Jay Z "Crazy In Love"-Another huge club banger, this song launched Beyonce's solo career in a big way and it was the summer anthem. An R & B Classic.
3. Christina Aguilera "Beautiful"-Not only was this the biggest ballad of the year, but this song has touched many people and it has inspired many. It also put Christina back on the map again. A Pop Classic.
4. Evanescence f/ Paul McCoy "Bring Me To Life"-This song was so well recieved, that even non rock fans like myself enjoyed the song. It was a favorite by the public. A Rock Classic.
5. Outkast "Hey Ya"-I know this song still hasn't peaked on any of the formats yet, but i am going to consider it as a 2003 song rather than 2004. It is the most unique and original song of the year. A Hip Hop Classic.
Why i didn't pick these hits:
3 Doors Down "When I'm Gone"-Okay, so it's one of the most played songs on Pop and Rock this year, but it's not as well recieved as the songs above
Black Eyed Peas "Where Is The Love"-The most played song on Pop, but what has this done to BEP's album sales? Nothing. It wasn't that well recieved.

I'm not trying to be mean, but do you start posts just to mention Christina's name? I'm just curious.
I would say
1. Beautiful 2. Crazy in Love 3. In da Club 4. When I'm Gone 5. Landslide

God please get a life! Why do you guys feel so threatened or upset whenever a Christina fan mentions her success? Whether it's on purpose or not, it doesn't matter. You guys have really shown how immature you are and have proven you are the ones that are bringing on all these wars with Christina's fans, and the mod's are too blind to see it because they participate in all this haterid themselves. I am fed up with this.

I'd say:
Bring Me To Life Crazy In Love In Da Club Where Is The Love
and I have no idea what the 5th would be.

*sigh*
Further proving that Christina's name can not be brought up without an argument.

I am fed up with this. "haterid" has got to be the funniest thing I've seen all day. I was just asking because I was curious. I love Christina, and I consider myself her biggest fan alive. Has for mentioning Christina's success, please. I predicted Christina would get 8 Grammy nominations, and I'm quick to throw it in anyone's face that she's the most successful artist on pop radio of the last five years, or that she's won 3 Grammy's and been nominated every year for a Grammy since her debut. I really just asked the question becaue I wanted to know. Not becaue I'm anti-Christina or I don't like you.

I can't turn on the radio without hearing Unwell. It is still outplaying Bright Lights on my station. I love MB20, but Unwell is probably my least favorite MB20 single. And yes, IT JUST CAME ON THE RADIO RIGHT NOW!!! I can't believe it! This song sure has staying power. Glad for the band, but prefer a harder sound for them. Wish it would get out of the way of Bright Lights.

The top two are easy. Multi-format hits. Sold a bunch of albums. Breakout stars created.
1. In Da Club 2. Bring Me To Life
The next three are based mostly on buzz generated, but also factor in chart porsition, albums sales, etc. I think if you asked 10,000 people, not people who follow charts, but music fans in general, these would be next:
3. When I'm Gone 4. Miss Independent 5. Don't Know Why. Yes, Norah Jones
Honorable mention would go to "Hey Ya", and "Here Without You"

Why do you guys feel so threatened or upset whenever a Christina fan mentions her success? Not "threatened," more so annoyed. Back on topic; "Where Is The Love," "Unwell," "Crazy In Love," "In Da Club," and "Bring Me To Life." Coincidentally, five of the most annoying records this year.

If i did this just to mention Christina then i would've put Christina at #1, like how you did. You do mention Christina in 90% of your posts but you do it in such a way as to not make her the center of your posts but you just mention her and you always throw her in the pile and never put her first so you don't make it obvious. I notice this very often and I'm sure others do too. It's funny!
I kinda agree with your list too. Although Beyounce is too high. Maybe throw 'Unwell' to replace 'Hey Ya' (since that is too new).

I know plenty of people who don't follow the charts and they would say....
50 Cent - In Da Club Beyonce - Crazy In Love Justin Timberlake - Cry Me A River Matchbox 20 - Unwell R. Kelly - Ignition Sean Paul - Get Busy
These songs have a mass appeal and that's why I listed them most are dance/R&B/hip-hop/pop tunes which is why they have almost an unfair advantage.

I did it before. Well, those were actually huge hits, except maybe "Cry Me a River." And it also may depend what was big in your area, like "Don't Wanna Try" and "Are Youy Happy Now?" were just huge here!

Cry me a river was a huge hit across the board. It was on R&B/Pop/Dance/hip-hop stations alike.

5 Biggest hits of 2003: 1.Outkast's Hey Ya-This is big now and will be for the next 2-3 months. I'm not generally a fan of fun songs, but this is great. A song that has entered 5 different charts and is a hit in pretty much all of them is a big hit in my book. 2.[biased opinion]Evanescence-Bring Me to Life-Some called it Linkin Park with a girl, others called it overrated, some called this band a one hit wonder, but the fact of the matter is this song cannot be denied. This song was a top-5 most played song in at least 4 different formats (Alternative, Christian, Pop, and Hot AC) and #1 most played in 3 of those. They had me at "Hello".[/biased opinion] 3.Beyonce feat. Sean Paul-Baby Boy-I used to kind of like the song, but it staled out on me. Nevertheless, this song deserves its due. 9 weeks in a row #1 on Billboard and I thought it'd never end. 4.50 Cent-In Da Club- Another 9 weeks in a row at #1 on Billboard and still a top recurrent after about 9 months of this song being on the radio. Absolutely amazing stuff. 5.Black Eyed Peas feat. Justin Timberlake-Where is the Love?-This song also tired out on me, but it also deserves its due. This song is a rarity for your current everyday mainstream run of the mill rap-Socially conscious, poignant and honest. This song will be their biggest hit probably for the rest of their career.
My 5 Biggest hits of 2003: 1.Outkast-Hey Ya-see above 2.Evanescence-Bring Me to Life-see above 3.Coldplay-Clocks-This song is one of the biggest in my book. Coldplay's best song. Even more so IMO than In My Place which was my favorite song before they released this one. 4.Linkin Park-Faint-Excellent song. Best song on Meteora no question IMO. They are rock's big boys now, whether you like it or not. 5.Audioslave-Like a Stone-People had their doubts about whether Audioslave would live up to the hype of either Rage Against the Machine or Soundgarden. Believe the hype.
And there you have it.

1. 3 Doors Down - When I'm Gone or Here Without You both had overwhelming and shocking pop chart lives.. terrific songs (IMO)
2. Evanescence - Bring Me To Life this song was loved by everyb... well, almost everybody, it got plenty of coverage all across the formats
3. Beyonce ft. Jay-Z - Crazy In Love this was huge, simply put
4. Sean Paul - Like Glue or Get Busy both songs got pretty much played to death
these are songs i view as #5 Michelle Branch - Are You Happy Now? Black Eyed Peas - Where Is the Love? R. Kelly - Ignition (remix) or Thoia Thoing
