i'm wondering, has it ever happened to you that you liked what an artist/band was doing in the early part of their careers, only to find their latest efforts to be weak compared to what they were? (or vice versa, hated the music before, then found the rest of their albums to be good)
i have one that comes to mind...
Madonna: don't get me wrong, i don't HATE her to the point of not listening to any of her songs, there aren't too many songs from her in the 80's i don't like, but to me, it seems since "Ray Of Light" hit the shelves, she's hit a huge downward slide in terms of creativity, lyrics and music... i only liked a few of her songs from that album (those being "The Power Of Goodbye" and even though i disliked it at first, i've grown to liking "Frozen" as well) but ever since then, all the songs that she has performed or has been featured in i've found so bad i couldn't get myself to lisen to the songs more then i had to (with the exception of DAD which was a good effort)

I guess Madonna would be one for me too, and I would agree with most of what you said.. I used to love her in the early 90's, looove her, she was actually my favorite artist.. but over time I started to lose interest, and ever since Ray Of Light she just hasn't been the same for me.. it seemed like too much had changed about her, and I didn't like her attitude toward her career before that point.. it got better once Music came out, but there's been only a few songs since ROL that I would say I really love, Beautiful Stranger would be one.. but she's definitely slipped with me over the years.
And then there's Britney Spears. I'll try to keep it brief as to not offend lol.. I didn't like her from the beginning, I think it was a couple singles into the first album that I started to.. but during the second album I had a revelation of sorts, and I basically said to myself, 'what the hell are you thinking??' There were certain things I realized, issues I had with her, and that was that. Haven't listened to her since.
That's the only time it's ever happened like that though, where I've gone from liking someone to completely despising them. Usually I just start to lose interest, it's never really that I start disliking someone. I'll stop caring enough to keep buying their albums basically.
I still do buy all Madonna's albums though, by the way.

I used to think Matchbox 20's songs sounded the same and were very redundant. I hated the band for a while. Now I am really liking the singles from their new album (except for "Disease").
I used to hate Nelly Furtado and her voice with a passion, but now I love "Powerless."

I used to hate Nelly Furtado and her voice with a passion, but now I love "Powerless." I have to echo you here. Also, one of my favorite bands now is Third Eye Blind and I was never as into them as all my friends were when they first came out. Now I think I like them the most of everyone!

I'm finding that I can't separate a band's music from their reputation anymore. I used to like Third Eye Blind, but hear Stephan Jenkins is a major jerk! I've heard the same thing about John Mayer. I find it hard to like their music anymore once I find out they're not very nice people.
Used to like Christina, but her latest sluttiness has turned be off big time. She's an artist, you know. Give me a break. Showcase your talent, honey, not your bod!

Mariah Carey. I used to like her music a lot but after "Honey" she started to get bad. She was my favorite female artist at one time. But she just hasn't made that many good songs since that time period. There are a few good singles she has released than but her albums have been nothing but medicore in that time.

Celine Dion. Ever since 'Falling Into You', her music just kept getting worse and worse overall.

I loved Pink's first album, but I haven't even been able to listen to her last 2 albums in full. On the other hand, I used to dislike Kelly Clarkson, since I thought she was a boring AI contestant, but now I like her a lot.

Limp Bizkit would definitely be a band that I use to love. They were only behind Korn and Tool as my favorite rock bands. "3 Dollar Bill Y'all" is still one of my favorite cd's of all time. But it seems since "Chocolate Starfish...." came out they have only been releasing crap. In fact I didn't even buy their remix cd or their latest. "Eat You Alive" is horrible. The only redeeming song is their cover of "Behind Blue Eyes" all the rest is pretty much mindless crap.
Celine Dion as well. She used to be my 2nd favorite diva but after her "My Heart Will Go On" she seemed to be done with. It's all been done before. I hope to never hear another celine song for as long as I live.
Ja Rule: I was a big fan of Ja's ever since he released the "Holla , Holla" single. I even stood by him when he sold out as JLo and than Ashanti's thug. But enough was enough. I finally got fed up when I heard "Mesmorize". How many times can you release the same song ugh. And his new cd is just a absolute joke. It's horrid.

I used to hate michael Jackson up until I felt as though he was being treated unfairly. Up until then I hated him with a passion. Even with the so called other boy police are saying accused michael of molesting him. Why did it take until now to get that information out?? It just seems to fishy and the Los Angeles police department hasn't been the most honest police department.
