Which duets do you think really stand out as great ones, that have not been released.
By duet, I mean both artists have equal parts on the song.... not someone just beaing featured on the song for a little bit..
Here are some I think:
Sting & Mary J. Blige - "Whenever I Say Your Name"(2003) This is the standout track on his new album. Supposedly it won't ever be released because of Love & Life but I think it could benefit both artists a lot if this is released. This is an incredible ballad... so good you feel like you already know it on the first listen. So many different styles of music used here too.
Sheryl Crow & Don Henley - "It's So Easy"(2002) Another great ballad. Pretty good lyrics too.
Ricky Martin & Madonna - "Be Careful"(1999) This is the best song on his debut album. It's a really strong ballad... I'm thinking Madonna didn't want it released because that's the only logival explanation I can come up with as to why it wasn't a single. It has that Latin sound to it too, but in a far less in your face way than most of the Latin Invasion Era singles.

Britney Spears and Don Philip!
Don Henley makes pretty good duets. Too bad they all sound the same.

Ginuwine & Aaliyah - Final Warning" (1998?) OMG this song is good. This is like the sequel to both "Are You That Somebody?" and "Same Ol' G" and both songs are mentioned in the lyrics of "Final Warning."
Destiny's Child & Next - "If You Leave" (1999) This is cheesy, but I always kind of liked it anyway.
Mary J. Blige & R. Kelly - "It's On" (1997) This was never actually released, but made the R&B airplay charts anyway. Nice 90's R&B ballad.
Lauryn Hill & Mary J. Blige - "I Used To Love Him" (1998) Another great mid-tempo R&B song that should have been a single. Just realized this is the 3rd duet I'm mentioning that Mary is on... she gets around.

Here's a 4th Mary duet. George Michael & Mary J, "As". I really like that one. Pretty smooth and jazzy.
It was a big hit, #2 in the UK I think.
Edit: Oh, and Wyclef Jean FT Mary J Blige, "911".

Destiny's Child & Next - "If You Leave" (1999) This is cheesy, but I always kind of liked it anyway. I completely agree there. That was the best song on "TWOTW".

Here's a 4th Mary duet. George Michael & Mary J, "As". I really like that one. Pretty smooth and jazzy. This track was released in Europe and Asia in 1999 and was huge. It sampled an old Stevie Wonder song, I believe. "As" never came out in the US, neither did George Michael's previous release "Outside".

There was this song Brad Paisly and Chely Wright did together that I don't think was released. The song was "Hard to Be a Husband, Hard to Be a Wife," it's really good.

Go Don Philip! Too bad he left Jive when they made him pose with lollipops.
Hoku and unknown guy, "I'm Scared" is a great duet.

That actually was going to be a single, they were even planning for a video and tried to schedule the the shoot at a time when both Ricky and Madonna would be available. I don't know exactly why it never happened though, I guess it just never worked out.

I have a few examples from 20 (!) years ago.
Donna Summer & Bruce Springsteen "Protection" (1982) Bruce Springsteen wrote this song for Donna Summer and recorded it as a duet. Unfortunately, due to label restrictions, it never saw the light of day and remains locked in a vault somewhere. A bootleg version that a creative fan spliced between the individual artists has been around for quite awhile.
Stevie Nicks & Tom Petty "I Will Run To You" (1983) Even though Nicks and Petty had a few other duets that charted, many Stevie Nicks fans were surprised that this track from "The Wild Heart" was not released at all. It would have been a strong follow up to "Stand Back"

Shawn Colvin & Chris Botti - "All Would Envy" from the CD Night Sessions
Shawn on vocals, Chris on trumpet. This should have been released both on Smooth Jazz and Triple A.

Shawn Colvin & Chris Botti - "All Would Envy" from the CD Night SessionsShawn on vocals, Chris on trumpet. This should have been released both on Smooth Jazz and Triple A. As long as we're doing vocalist/instrumental duets than I have 2 more Toni Braxton & Kenny G. - "That Somebody Was You"Beautiful slow R&B/jazz ballad. This is like "How Could An Angel..." except its A) its stronger and B) has a happier subject matter Santana & Dave Matthews - "Love Of My Life" Don't really know what to say about this, being that it IS one of my favorite songs of all-time. I still listen to this about once a week or so even after all this time.

Jaci Velasquez & ??? - Season of Love ??? From which CD is that song? Angela Vía & Frankie Negrón - Eternamente Te Amaré (2000)Great Spanish duet! It was supposed to be released in Latin America in Fall 2000. Maybe it got some airplay down there? Roselyn Sánchez & Tyrese - I Wanna Feel Your Rumba (2003) Great song, great title! Catchy Spanglish duet, featured on "BORINQUEÑA," the debut album from Roselyn Sánchez (Chasing Papi, Boat Trip.)

i agree with the max on mariah and dru hills duet the beautiful ones. i think that is my all time favorite duet. i also think breakdown (mariah featuring bone thugs) would've been huge in the us if had been released here.

Elton John & Janet - I Know The Truth (1999) An excellent duet ballad from the Aida soundtrack. Janet gives a beautiful vocal performance. I thought this should have been released more so than the Elton/LeAnn Rimes duet that was released.

Also... Andy Griggs did a duet with some girl that I never heard on radio (it might have been released but flopped) called "I Wanna Grow Young With You Baby". I really liked it, too!

I'm going to throw another Santana song out there, specifically his duet with Citizen Cope entitled "Sideways". In my opinion this is the best track on Shaman. It has such a great bluesy vibe to it, I never get sick of it.

This track is not on any album yet, but it was supposed to come out on Madonna's Bedtime Stories album. But then it just went away. It was a he raps-she sings collaboration with 2Pac on a remix of "I'd Rather Be Your Lover". It ended up getting released on a 2Pac six CD collection.

Kimberley Locke & Clay Aiken, "Without You"
Great ballad that they both tear up vocally. Clay performed this with one of his backup singers on two of his tours.
Clay Aiken & Cherie, "Fool"
This was only performed once, and I loved it, even from a crappy download where you can hear people talking. They should record it in a studio. A solo version by Cherie is on her debut album.
Jessica Simpson & Destiny's Child, "Woman in Me"
From Jessica's first album. The sound is kinda cheesy and dated (especially now), but it has a good message and Beyonce and Kelly sing it out.
