Good: Mya: "Moodring" She has two consecutive albums with good titles and good first single titles. Willa Ford: "Sexysexobsessive" (but will come out in 2004 if it comes out) Lumidee: "Almost Famous" She had a good explanation that people know the "Uh Oooh" song but don't know who she is. Bad: Britney Spears: "In The Zone" She hasn't made any great album titles yet and this is her worst. Baby Bash: "The Smokin' Nephew" Nick Lachey: "SoulO" Chingy: "Jackpot" Sounds like a streotypical rap album. Ashanti: "Chapter II" She has shown no creativity in two album titles. Michelle Branch: "Hotel Paper" Nelly: "Da Derrty Versions (The Reinvention)" Rachel Stevens: "Funkydory" (I haven't read the topic to know when it comes/came out)

THE GOOD ---Nelly Furtado - "Folklore" It fits this project so well ---Erykah Badu - "Wordwide Underground" I just really like the title ---Jewel - "0304" I thought this was a really clever title. Maybe I am just simple minded though :) ---Beyonce - "Dangerously In Love" Not original by any means but one of my favorite tracks on "Survivor" and I love her solo version. I just wish she would release it as a single. Korn - "Take A Look In The Mirror" Korn always has great album titles. THE BAD ---Limp Bizkit - "Results May Very" Don't like the band , don't like the album , don't like the title. ---Godsmack - "Faceless" DOn't get me wrong this cd is awesome but the title is kinda scary lol ---Nick Lachey - "SoulO" Yuck!!!!! ---Toby Keith- "Shock N Y'all" ---Clay Aiken - "Measure Of A Man" & Rueben Studdard - "Soulful" I wish AI would be banned

Good: Outkast:Speakerboxxx/The Love Below The Darkness: Permission to Land (Well they kinda look like they are from outer space.) Hilary Duff:Metamorphosis (Don't like the singer/actress but it's a good name for a first album rather than Hilary Duff) Sarah MacLachlan:Afterglow (Has a nice ring to it I don't know) Nickelback:The Long Road (Simple and kind of fits with Nickelback since it took them 2 albums to really fit into the American mainstream) Puddle of Mudd-Life on Display but the better life title this year is Dido-Life for Rent
Bad: Britney Spears-In the Zone (Out of gas) Black Eyed Peas-Elephunk (What the phunk?) Ludacris-Chicken and Beer (At least the name of the artist is appropriate to my opinion of this song title) Ja Rule-Blood in My Eye (50's success took a jab at Ja's ego) Pink-Try This (Too cliche for me)

Good album titles:
Jewel: 0304 - very simple, and yet it takes people a while to figure out. What a great idea, she did it so the album could be a "pop culture yearbook" for 2003 and 2004.
Mya: Moodring - I really like this album title (can't say the same about the actual album). Very creative... I bet Mariah wishes she thought of it first!
Britney Spears: In the Zone - This album title is so lame, that you have to think it's intenionally lame. Therefore, the lameness just becomes fun. Go along with it.
The Bad:
Nick Lachey: SoulO - Unlike Britney's title, this is not so bad that it becomes good. This is just bad. Reallllly bad.
Ashanti: Chapter 2 - I think calling your second album anything with "2" in it has become incredibly cliche and unoriginal.
Ginuwine: The Senior - same reason as Ashanti's Chapter 2. This is even worse, drawing a metaphor between a 4th album and the 4th year of high school (which is exactly what he said on TRL).
Can't decide:
Third Eye Blind: Out of the Vein (I'd like it more if it got rid of the "the."
Live: "Bird of Pray"
Monica: "After the Storm" - great personal meaning, but a little cliche to compare your personal life obstacles to the weather.

Good: Lumidee: "Almost Famous" She had a good explanation that people know the "Uh Oooh" song but don't know who she is. I will agree with this... especiall since "Never Leave You" is the only song I know by her.

Well, the standout lamest CD title so far is definately Britney's "In The Zone."
And I can't decide on Jewel's 0304. I like how it was a yearbook for 2003-2004, and the number of other meanings fans came up with (ie. 0304 = 03/04 = march 4th = March Forth), but I don't know.

Good: PLAY, "Replay": I think it's a great title because Sony suggested it to them. To me, it's kind of like they played once on their debut album and now they're re-playing, so double the fun!
Clay Aiken, "Measure of A Man": The wonderful, ambiguious title is a hit among young teenyboppers (how do you measure a boyfriend's worth?) to mature, adult fans.
Hilary Duff, "Metamorphosis": She's changing from a TV star to a movie star to a pop star! YOW!
Jo Davidson, "The Simply Said Sessions" (2004): I like it.
LeAnn Rimes, "Greatest Hits (To Be Continued...)": Very creative! I can't wait for the next chapter.
Lene Marlin, "Another Day"
---
Bad: Jamelia, "Thank You": Oh shut up, you big liar who disses fans in your Official site's journal because they expressed their opinion. Too bad if they don't agree with your record company's sales format; all you care about is if your sales are jeopardized. "Thank You"? You're NOT welcome.
Jessica Andrews, "NOW": I don't really like it.

In addition to what I posted I agree with Clay Aiken and Pink having bad titles.

Clay's is bad because he's not a man and it was used by Kevin Sharp already.
I don't like Jewel's title.
Kathleen Edwards' 'Failer' is neat.
I'm still not too keen on Sarah's or Nelly's. 'Afterglow' isn't bad but isn't Sarah and 'Folklore' isn't as good as 'Fresh Off The Boat'.

Good:
Coverage - Mandy Moore (clever and fitting) Body Language - Kylie Minogue In The Zone - Britney Spears Metamorphosis - Hilary Duff Moodring - Mya
Not so good:
Hotel Paper - Michelle Branch (I thought it was like toilet paper, the title... I LOVE the music on the album though) Just As I Am - Guy Sebastian (could you get any more cliche) Dangerously In Love - Beyonce (get something new! Good song though) SoulO - Nick Lachey

"Metamorphosis" and "Now" sounded clichΓ© to me. It seems like an easy titles to explain what they mean.
"Dangerously in Love" sounds like one of those bad titles for an action movie. When they really have nothing to name the movie so they give it something that goes with any action movie (i.e. Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle).
I kind of liked "Hotel Paper," it's where the album came from. She wrote all her songs on hotel paper.

Not to offend White Stripes fans here, but though I think their latest album is excellent and one of the best releases in recent years, I feel "Elephant" is a rather weak title for an album which its sound goes well beyond its marching drums of Meg, and goes into much alternative/blues rock infusion. With all the mixes, "Elephant" sounds too monophonic for an album title.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

The only stand-out bad ones for me are...
Madonna: American Life People associated the whole album with the lead single, when really, the rest of the album was nothing like that.
Britney Spears: In the Zone Reminds me of Auto Zone commericals. Too hokey for me.

I also didn't like Lillix's "Falling Uphill." It sounded like someone was trying too hard.

I disagree with Nickelback's new album having a clever title ("The Long Road"). It sounds terribly cliche, like something Willie Nelson or Van Morrison would use profusely.
Evanescence's "Fallen" is also a rather boring title fitting the mood of the album. I heard it for the first time recently (I was scared to hearing "Bring Me To Life" and disliking it greatly) and it was a favorable album at best to me, but the spirituality just doesn't reflect in this one-way title.
And I don't see what's the big deal with Ryan Adams titling his new album "Rock & Roll" inside-out! Boring to me!
Though this year is one of the worst for clever album titles ever, my favorite title this year has to be "Welcome Interstate Managers" from Fountains of Wayne.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I don't know if it's just me, but I haven't been fond of Mariah Carey's titles.
Butterfly, Rainbow, Glitter, Charmbracelet...what's next?
Cotton Candy? ;)
mmmmm.......candy......

I agree that "Coverage" is a good title. Looking at the list of albums certified five times platinum or better, I like the titles: "Jagged Little Pill" "CrazySexyCool" "Tragic Kingdom" "The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill"

Bad Album titles would be:
American Life A Decade of Song Life For Rent
Some good ones
Body Language All For You Bedtime Stories Charmbracelet Glitter Butterfly
Mariah is probably my favorite album titles artist.
