I know it probally means nothing, but I got a little excited when I saw this, only because there were rumors of "Cruz" being the 5th single instead of "The Voice Within"

Well, "Cruz" clearly should have been her fifth single because that is a Top 5 smash.... but it had one spin when "The Voice Within" was being released, so it's probably not much of a sign at all. If she did release a sixth single it should be "Cruz," even though I am against releasing two slow songs in a row.

"Cruz" should have been the fifth single instead of "The Voice Within". Most people seem to like this song, even people who hate her, and I think anyone can realise it would be a big hit if released.

However tracks like "I'm OK" and "Walk Away" are probally too long, and too deep to be a radio-friendly hit. Also, I think it'll be a while until TVW starts falling. If you look at the bottom half of the top 20--Ludacris is at # 11 and Christina's at #12...and the only other song with a bullet is Jessica Simpson [suprisingly doing well]. Theres also songs in the 30-21 range that are forcing into the top 20 like Linkin Park & Eamon. However, there are also many songs in the top 10 that are losing spins like its going out of style. So Christina still does have a chance to go top 10. |

Boy am i glad no one here are record executives at RCA Records. The smartest move for Christina will be to wrap up her album after this single and then release something like a soundtrack single or a collaboration later on this year (like how she did with NWTBL and LM) and release a new album in the fall of 2005.

why not have a sixth single? i think going top 10 is a good enough reason.
when your single is doing as well, or even better, than other people's first singles, and helping your album surge back up the charts all over the world, then you've got great reason. especially when the Grammys and Brit Awards are coming, and you're probably going to be performing.
Impossible would be a great choice. With Alicia doing so well right now too, it could only help the both of them.

I'm with Josh on this one though. Christina doesn't seem overexposed. She's not everywhere despite having a bunch of singles this year, and she's only on her own singles and not others like Ja Rule was. If Christina didn't release another single, she'd still be on magazine covers and whatever.

Yeah, in the case of artists like Ja Rule and Jennifer Lopez, the signs of backlash were apparent.
Christina's biggest backlash was after " Dirrty" and she's already recovered. I don't think having a lot of singles will hurt her. She has a good promotion team behind her that will keep her out there without overexposing her. That's exactly how Janet Jackson managed so many hits.

Ja Rule and J.Lo will both be back in tip top chart form so I dont really truly think overexposure is a factor for a very long time. I think people overrate overexposure.

I don't think a sixth single would be overkill either. Like it's been said, she hasn't been shoved in people's faces even though she's had a steady flow of hits.
Plus in the cases of Ja Rule and J.Lo, I think it just started to get really monotonous. Way too formulaic, new single sounding like the last two, etc. Christina hasn't had a single from Stripped yet that sounded remotely like the last, so it's not that tiring.
I'd love to see another one, although I'm sure it's still unlikely. I'd go for "Cruz" except for the two slow songs in a row aspect. The other song I think might make an interesting sixth single is "Make Over." Some hate it, some love it, but it's totally different from anything she's released, and it could spark interest. I'm not sure if radio would be too afraid of it though, especially coming from Christina. But I still think it would be cool to experiment with it and throw it out there.

It'd be cool to have another single... she's still got different sounding and radio friendly songs on the album to pick from.
I agree she's not over-exposed. She's been huge in 2003 worldwide but not to an over-exposed level, I don't think anybody is tired of her other than people who will be tired of her no matter what.... it's kinda like Janet, exposed to the right level!
I pick "Get Mine, Get Yours" or "Cruz".

I don't think there will be a sixth single. Here's why: I think Christina will release another album next fall. There is no way that she will wait three years like she did last time, and she said she is looking at songs. I bet Christina's next single will come out sometime late next summer to be followed by a November album release. That would be a little over two years, perfect timing.

I think if she releases a new single by the summer, that will definitely lead to overexposure. I'd say spring '05 at the earliest.

The end of next summer will be 9 months after the release "The Voice Within" 9 months with no single at radio and more than two years without a new album is plenty of time. |

My best guess is she won't release another single... unless she's waiting for graduation time to release "Cruz" but that means she'll have to release it in late March or April.

i think she's doing a Latin America tour starting in April. maybe right at the end of the year she'll release another album, which will make it two years since Stripped, which isn't a long time at all, no matter if some people try to convince us that it is. but the she said she wants to do a movie too. so i too, think a new album in Spring 2005. that definitely leaves time for another Stripped single in early 2004, leaving about a year before the next one on the next album. it makes more sense than just leaving a near 18 month gap between TVW and the new one.

See I think a sixth single is not a good time to experiment. You're taking a big risk of ending the album on a really bad note. Hmm, I don't know, I guess I don't look at it like that.. I just see it as, if it flops, big deal, it wasn't a necessary release, and people will hardly notice, but if it does well, then great, more promo for the album. I really doubt she'll release another album in 2004, another English anyway. I expect the next Spanish album maybe mid-year, so I wouldn't expect the next English album until sometime 2005. She was supposedly supposed to start work on the Spanish album in January, I don't know if that's changed or not though. |

I hope she does not release another single. I HOPE she will (in 2004) finish her Latin album, do the Latin American tour she spoke about, and start recording her new new cd. If she wants, a cameo in a movie or two. (or small small roles-I am praying she does not take on a lead role) Then release a new single in early 2005 some time. Sounds perfect to me I guess a sixth single would not really HARM any of that. I just do not think it would do well nor benefit anything. It seems like it should be put to a close now (The Stripped era) |

I am also against a 6th single simply because I think the music speaks for itself now on Stripped...if it is recognized at the Grammys and Brits - she will not need to release another single as buyers will find the album from those shows.
But for the Ja Rule reference, I disagree. Ja hurt himself by taking on 50 and lost more than half of his fan base by making himself look like a fool.
