Ok, I do know of course the meaning of the three words, but what does the whole thing mean? Is it some type of slang or something that Missy is using? It does not make sense to me yet.

I believe dutch=pot. It has something to do with drugs I know that because Musical Youth had a song in the 80s called Pass the Dutchie. I remember Pop Up Video had something about what dutch/dutchie meant and it had something to do with drugs.

Pass the Dutch indeed means pass the pot.
Musical Youth changed it to Dutchie meaning more specifically cooking pot so that they were not doing a drug song.

Really?!?? I'm surprised Missy put something like that out for a first single, and more surprised knowing that she has a big portion of her fans that are teenagers. Missy promoting drug use sounds very weird to me... are you, guys, sure about that?!?!?!
However it was, I don't think it was a good move. Compared to her last 4 big singles, this song is not really anything spectacular. I think it's just ok... more like a 4th single choice or something. I guess she thought she was so big and famous that she was going to start a nation-wide dance craze with the steps/dance she does with this song. This song I think hasn't even been a hit on rap radio. Has it? I hope she releases a better choice for second single.

Yes, it's definitely "pot". "Dutch" is slang for "pot". The second single is "I'm Really Hot".

Most rappers have no class. You'd think that since they have such a strong influence on people, they'd be rapping against it.. but nope.

I thought it was a type of alcohol drink?! Me too. lol One of my friends said that on T.V., the video is censored ("Pass That ****"). The station I usually watch doesn't censor it.

I thought it was a type of alcohol drink?! Maybe you're confusing it with "Courvoisier".

There's a song called "Pass Da Blunt" on her first album Supa Dupa Fly, it samples "Pass The Dutchie."

I think you hit the nail on the head with why she picked this as the first single-- she thought her status was enough to make it a hit. Well, the song is not good, and so it was not a hit. The second single is much better.

MTV did that with "Hash Pipe". I hadn't heard the song prior to seeing the video so I didn't know what the censored word was. I looked at the Alternative chart and found out was the word was before I saw the video just calling it "Pipe."
