...to check out their older material?
Madonna - The first time I really liked her stuff was when "Frozen" came out. I really got into her electronic stuff (particular Ray Of Light) and then I was curious to see what else she had put out for the past 10+ years.
U2 - I really liked their "All That You Can't Leave Behind" album, and I just digged a little deeper to find some classics that I didn't know they sang! (ex. Mysterious Ways)
Kylie Minogue - Ok. When "Fever" came out, I was hooked. Then I went back to find "Impossible Princess", "Light Years" and "KM '94". She's made some interesting music, not very commercial, but worth going through.
What about you guys?

Xtina's "Stripped" has inspired me in numerous different ways. From "Walk Away" to "Fighter" to "Keep On Singin My Song". There is also Evanescence , "My Immortal" and "Bring Me To Life". Me'shell NdegeOcello's latest "Comfort Woman" has inspired me to not give up on love etc... More to come ....

Britney's new music has inspired me. Her whole album has especially songs like Toxic, Touch Of My Hand and Shadow. They are such beautiful songs, I think she proved with this album that she is here to stay.
I went out and bought everything of Kelis' after i heard Milkshake. I have always liked her but never picked up any of her cds. They are good!
Maroon5 reminds me of earlier 90s rock and I bought there cd after I heard "This Love".

I bought Beth Hart's 1999 CD because I love her current single 'Leave The Light On', which I need to get eventually.
There should be other examples but I can't think of any right now. :( I rarely buy older CDs by artists. Usually if I don't catch on to an artist by their first couple singles from their first album, I probably never will. I did buy Michelle Branch's first album after her second album but the second CD didn't inspire me to get the first one.

You didn't read the question. ;) Oops my bad. Well Me'shell's latest material has gotten me to take a look back at her early work. As well as The White Stripes. I thought they were a new band until I started doing research.

Evanescence Fallen led me to Origin To some extent, Sarah, Alanis and Jewel-their second and third cds inspired me to look at earlier works. (I was not into them at the points of their breakout cds)

I do that all the time. Basically... if I like a current CD by someone a lot I normally end up buying all their old CD's as well.

You didn't read the question. ;) Well, despite that, the first sentence of his original reply was good for a laugh anyway. ;)

Did Michelle Branch make anybody want "Broken Bracelet"? Yep, and it now spends way more time in my CD player than "The Spirit Room" or "Hotel Paper"

Evanescence's Fallen...who else could it be?
It led me to listen to works from Origin (2000) and works that go back to as early as late 1997.

Nine Inch Nails - The Fragile (got me to buy the downward spiral and pretty hate machine within just four months of purchase, at 13 when I liked them more than you could imagine, it's that good. I dug even deeper later. I was familiar with quite a few singles tho) Stone Temple Pilots - No. 4 (got me to listen to all of the first three albums) Radiohead - Kid A (back to The Bends and OK Computer) VAST -- Music For People (inspired me to buy V.A.S.T. - Visual Audio Sensory Theater, first album which I heard no song from previous to buying) The White Stripes -- White Blood Cells (inspired me to listen to s/t and De Stijl because it was so good. The latter is even better!)

I did get No Doubt's first CD after getting 'Tragic Kingdom' in 1997 and I never heard a song from it. I also got 'The Beacon Street Collection' too.
And Alanis' first two albums too. LOL!
