Is this song sampled, in the beginning at least?
I was in Wendy's today and I could have swore that was beginning to come on, but it ended up some man was singing.

Is this song sampled, in the beginning at least? No, but "Ventura Highway" by America contains a sample of "Someone To Call My Lover".

"Someone To Call My Lover" samples two songs. The bridge ("My my, looking for a guy guy....) is also from another song. That's my favorite part.

I'm sick of all that sampling. They can't find a decent hook, so they sample somebody else's. 9 times out of 10 it is that sampled hook that scores them the hit, it's just that the target audience often doesn't know it's a sample so they think it is an original piece. I hate that.
I don't mind SOME sampling, but it is way out of hand, and one of the chief reasons I'm not a bigger fan of hip hop.

Whole hook samples annoy me, especially since people think it's a new piece. I don't really mind sampling in this case though. It's only a guitar riff. I doubt this song made it to #3 on the Hot 100 on the guitar riff.

I had no idea! I can't believe she tricked me! It does not sample two songs it samples one. Personally I think the totally 80's remix is better than the original version that samples ventura highways America. If you look at the album credits it samples only one song.

Oh... still sucks that it sampled. What's strange is the totally 80's remix which was not sampled is far superior to the original version which was. I'm even going to say that STCML would've went to #1 had the totally 80's mix been the original version of the song and actually been promoted.

the only samples that bother me are:
1. songs that are sampled more than once within a year or two of eachother
2. songs that sample original beats that are less than 10 years old
3. songs that sample without incorporating at least mostly new material, including lyrics

I don't know which song it is, but I know it for a fact.
