Both of them scored hits after hits in 2002 but two years later, their career have sunked to an all time low. Hotel Paper has scanned less than one million copies and their third single is a destined flop. Meanwhile, Pink's Try This has underperformed way below expectations and her past three singles did not manage to hit the top 10 of CHR/Pop.
One year from now, who would be able to pick themselves up from the slump they are in and propel themselves to a new career high?
In my opinion, Michelle might have a better chance at making a very strong comeback next year. As long as she cuts out all the pretentious flair she has around her now and return back to basics (like she was three years ago), she would be able to make it big again. She is more critically acclaimed than Pink and I happen to think she has stronger materials too.
Pink's "I'm a rebel" shtick is just wearing thin with me. I'm so bored of her, and even though I thought Trouble was decent, God Is A DJ is one mega suckfest.

Pink looks like a hog -- and she tries too hard. I vote for Michelle.

Pink! There's nothing appealing or new about Michelle. Pink has staying power. Her latest songs aren't exactly radio favorites, but I think that she can come back. She's very talented. What do looks have to do with any of this, Luckie? Sheesh.

Pink has shown the ability to sell records and produce multi-format hits. Michelle really has not. Pink is definately more likely to make a comback. Pleus she actaully has a good voice.

What do looks have to do with any of this, Luckie? Sheesh. If looks have nothing to do with this, then why did Michelle take off all her clothes? Please. The problem with Pink is that she tries to be cool. I much prefer artists who simply are cool -- without trying.

I can see Pink having a huge hit with her next album. And radio would accept her. I dont really know what Michelle could do to show that she can have another hit. So much of her music is same soundey to me. On Pinks last album (NOT TRY THIS) she showed off her voice and skills with many different types of songs. I think that ability will help her in later years.

I'd say it depends if CHR/Pop leans more towards the Britney Spears or Avril Lavigne prototypes.
If it leans to the former, Pink will have no shot until that resurrecting trend dies down. If it leans to the latter, Pink will thrive again.
And might I add I'm not saying Michelle Branch belongs in the Spears category, but she tends to be recognized more as a pop artist, with Pink also having pop as a signature label but seen as more Alternative within mainstream.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I think Michelle because Pink is soley a pop singer whereas Michelle is closer to pop/rock a la Sheryl Crow. Pink artists have a harder time coming back after their initial run has ended.

Pink definitely. Michelle has one format of music that she does. Pink has the ability to change to whatever radio is accepting of. If she wants to be R&B, she can, hip-hop, dance, rock, pop, whatever. I'm sure if opera was in, she'd get a hit. "Try This" was a flop because the music was very dated sounding and Arista was going down the tubes while the album was out.

Michelle Branch. Her album might have underperformed but i wouldn't call "Hotel Paper" a flop, more like an underperforming Dissapointment. It's not like her first album was a multi platinum seller either. And at least she had a hit with "Are You Happy Now". She can bounce back, but i'm not saying she will.
Pink on the other hand is a total disaster. An album that's hardly scanned 500,000 copies after your last album sold 5 million copies is a big huge flop in my book. Her music has sucked donkey balls, and "God Is A DJ" is the biggest bomb i have heard this year. 3 Back to back flops, that's going to be hard to recover from. I don't feel one bit sorry for Pink. I know she's probably upset that her album is a big flop but she is trying to cover that up by dissing other artists just to get attention, and that's not working either. She can continue to have a Christina blow up doll at all her concerts, but we'll see who's going to be having the last laugh in the end.

I think they can both make a comeback, however Pink has so much potential. "Missundaztood" was an amazing album.

Christina has never ever dissed Pink. If you are referring to her "When has Pink never copied my style" quote, that was junk made up by a british tabliod. Christina has never mentioned Pink's name in the entire "Stripped" era. The only time she ever mentioned her name was when she was hosting the EMA's, when she said "And now here's Pink...". That's about it.

Michelle Branch will probably makw the bigger comeback. I think radio will remember her for "Are You Happy Now?" and they will be willing to hear new music. However, Michelle Branch is well.... stupid when it comes to choosing songs for singles and/or that go on her album.

i am guessing that Macerick will throw out her next album and watch it flop, and that will be the end of her record contract.

I like Michelle but IMO she doesn't have enough "star power" or charisma to substain a long career. I know she is still young but I just don't see much of a future for her. Her singing on TV has really hurt her. I haven't seen a good performance by her yet.
I think Pink's shtick is up. I really don't see her having a very big comeback. Could be wrong though. She does possess that elusive "it" factor, though. I agree with the posters who said that she tries too hard to be cool. I think it is hurting her, obviously. Plus, her last three singles were very weak.

Tough, but my vote is for Pink. She's more versatile and can genre hop, Michelle is now associated directly with Pop-Rock in my opinion, if she tries anything new, she'll be the Liz Phair of late 2004/early 2005. Pink has been trying new stuff on ever album, and its produced good results, I see the Britney effect for Michelle, sales keep sliding, and sliding.....

I think both have pretty good futures ahead of them. I was bothered when Michelle pulled a Britney in Maxim Magazine. Lost a little respect for her. I have heard that she's had some bad TV performances though. I used to love Pink, but I burned out on her persona. Why can't these young woman artists just be musicians anymore like Carly Simon/Carole King/Sarah McLaughlin. I am sick of what pop music business is doing to these girls!

Probably Pink. She is more unique, and more diverse in types of music she does. While lots of artists, including Michelle, try to sing with an attitude, Pink's appears genuine, at least. I will say that the only memorable song that either has put out this year is Michelle's "Are You Happy Now?"
