And I'll mention my favorite one: "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls.
I guess there are countless examples. Here are some other good ones: Chumbawamba - "Tubthumping" Nirvana - "Smells Like Teen Spirit" Blur - "Song 2" Green Day - "Brainstew" (there are many examples with Green Day) Third Eye Blind - "Jumper"

Shouldn't this thread be put in another more general forum so that we can list all of the songs from multiple genres? This forum is only for CHR/POP matters.

I was gonna say the same thing, but then where else can this thread go? It's music related, so technically it can't go in the Lounge. If anything, maybe Your Opinion Please -- it doesn't exactly fit there either, but I guess it makes more sense than keeping this in the pop forum.

"Better Off Alone" by Alice Deejay "The Hustle" by Van McCoy "Gonna Fly Now" by Bill Conti "Pick Up The Pieces" by the Average White Band "Fly Robin Fly" by Silver Convention Uh... you did read the thread title, right?Β ;) All the songs you mentioned are almost instrumentals, with the bulk of the lyrics consisting of the title.

There are a lot of examples with Vanessa Calrton like "Prince" and "Sway."
Avril also does it with "Unwated." If you go by the "Come Clean" way Avril does it with "Don't Tell Me" and "Losing Grip" where the song names are not directly in the lyrics, that is also the case with "Too Much to Ask."

Mary J. Blige: "Family Affair" Third Eye Blind: "Semi-Charmed Life" says "semi-charmed kind of life" There are also songs like "The Remedy (I Won't Worry)" where the words in parenthesis and the words not in parenthesis are in different places.

LOL @ the Alice Deejay "Better Off Alone" example...that's ALL she says!
I think "Semi Charmed kinda life" is close enough to the title, same with "Come Clean", she says "I'm comin' clean".
Also Ludacris' "Splash Waterfalls" does not mention the title in the lyrics either.

Ja Rule f. Ashanti "Mesmerize" Ashanti "Foolish" Big Boi "Unhappy" Coldplay "The Scientist" Destiny's Child "Independent Woman Part 1" Gorillaz "Clint Eastwood" Gorillaz "19-2000" Jack Johnson "Flake" ? Las Ketchup "The Ketchup Song" Lil Kim "The Jump Off" ? Missy Elliot "Gossip Folks" Nelly/Kelly "Dilemma" The Carpenters/Luther/Ruben "Superstar" Sum 41 "The Hell Song" TLC "Turntable" Truth Hurts "Addictive" Radiohead "Paranoid Android"
Questionable:
-Because title is mentioned in dialogues: Britney Spears "Me Against the Music" - Although the title is mentioned in the beginning dialogue. Craig David "7 Days" Lauryn Hill "Doo Wop" Nappy Roots "Awnaw" No Doubt "New"
Parenthetical Inclusions Mya "Case of the Ex" - If you're gonna include (Whatcha Gonna Do)

LOL @ the Alice Deejay "Better Off Alone" example...that's ALL she says! I know - I gave those examples as a joke, since they were all songs where the only lyrics WERE the title. Actually, Alice also sings "Talk to me", which she obviously stole from "Here Comes The Rain Again" by the Eurythmics.

Thanks, Ben

Eamon F-ck It (I Don't Want You Back)
Even with the unedited version, the lyrics are F *you*, not F *it*
Frankee The song is titled F U R B. She would have to say "F U R B" not "F-ck You Right Back" in order for the title to be in the lyrics.
Wow, two completely unacceptable songs (though Eamon did peak at #12 on my personal chart), both without the title mentioned directly in the lyrics. :) LOL

"Awnaw" definitely has the title in the chorus. Yea, in the chorus they say "Awnaw hell naw boy y'all done up and done it, awnaw hell naw..."
