I recently purchased a new mp3 Phillips Discman and I decided to go and get a new CD too so I got the new Norah Jones album, "Feels Like Home".
When I play the album in my discman all the tracks work except for tracks "11", "12" and "13". When I play those tracks it just plays a minute and a half of track one *which is "Sunrise"*.
Does this problem have something to do with the CD Copy protection on the CD. On the back of the album theres a big label that covers the bottom left hand side that says that it may not work in things like Car CD Players.
Does anyone know what my problem is and how to fix it?
The CD works fine on my stereo and Computer so is the "Copy Protection" feature on the album just conflicting with the Mp3 feature of my discman?
Thanks!

The copy protection is definitely the problem.
My friend is currently working at Blue Note Records and he's in charge of customer complaints. Apparently you're not alone because he's been bombarded with complaints about the CD not playing properly since the release.

Could someone help?
Can I fix it?
I'm assuming it is the fault of the copy protection on the CD but whats the point of such over the top CD Protection if I can't play the CD properly on my discman!
I feel like sueing Blue Note! argh!!!

What else are you expecting to hear? Tony already answered you.

What else are you expecting to hear?Β Tony already answered you. It's just very frustrating. Whats the point in Blue Note putting this CD out if it can't work in different machines!? It's just very annoying that I can only hear 10 tracks out of 13 on the album when I paid for the whole thing.

Try returning it or write a complaint letter.

From what I understand, you'll have to rip this cd onto your computer, and then burn the ripped tracks onto another cd.
The copy protection works by not allowing the files to be opened by standard computer music programs like winamp and windows media player. When you put it into your computer, it opens up its own player (which is included on the disc) and will only play on that.
But the weakness in this scheme is that is still has to be able to be read by standard CD players. Most cd rippers rip by looking for the song info in standard CD format - so most rippers will rip this CD with no problems. It may not work with the bigger ones like MusicMatch, but there are tons of free ripping programs out there.

I have a lot of protected CDs and every one of them ask me first if I want to install some player in order for the CD to work and I always click "cancel" and rip away!

I have lots of copy protected CD's too and they work fine... I use windows media 8 and I have no problems copying them all to my computer and then making copies thereafter.
