What do you guys think is the most unusual song to ever top the Pop chart? Was it a weird song that made it to the top, or was it just a song you couldn't believe got to # 1?
My vote for the oddest Pop # 1 ever goes to Pink Floyd's "Another Brick In The Wall".

Most novelty songs would apply ("Disco Duck", "Convoy", "Kung Fu Fighting", "The Streak")...
One song that I loved that I was still shocked was able to climb to #1 in Billboard was the Stars On 45 medley in 1981.

The Singing Nun hit #1 in the 60's with "Dominique. That's gotta be it for me.

Well, in the Mike Era of 1994-present, I'd have to say Ricky Martin and Lou Bega.

As far as the Hot 100 goes, I'd say any of the instrumentals especially those like "Fingertips" and "Frankenstein".

Yeah, and to think it was unable to seat the #1 song of 1981 for a week! I think you mean "able to unseat", right? :)

Back years ago, I would say "In the Year 2525" by Zager & Evans (1969) and "My Ding-A-Ling" by Chuck Berry (1972).
More recently, going by Billboard's Hot 100, I would say "Lately" by Divine was a total shocker to get to #1 in 1998.

Unusual #1 hmmm..... R. Kelly "Ignition" Sean Paul "Get Busy" Madonna "Music" at pop radio.... on the Hot 100 not too sure... "Get Busy" only got as high as number three. And as I recall, "Music" didn't hit number one, neither.
