I don't quite get it. I don't think it's a bad song at all but for some reason, I can't get into it to the extent that it seems like everyone else is. It's the only Keane song I know so maybe they'll pull a Coldplay for me and impress me with a later release. Am I the only one that isn't impressed with this song?

It takes awhile. I disliked it for the first few months I heard it and then BAM, it connected. The lyrics and his voice do it for me.

I didn't like it when I first heard it, but it really grew on me. It made top 10 on my PC.

I had that same reaction the first time I listened to the CD. It took a few listens of the whole CD for me to really like it. He's got a beautiful voice and I really enjoy the piano-driven pop/rock thing. And they were great live, so I am a fan for sure. They played a couple new songs and I had the same reaction I did to the first time I heard Hopes & Fears- kind of boring. Hope the new stuff grows on me and that the new CD is good too.

While they've always been there and usually worked well, I think we're only going to see more pianos in modern rock and roll in the future. Whether it be from bands like Keane or bands like The Dresden Dolls.
Personally, I love the thought.

Any progress this song has made with me since May has been inch by inch.

I'd love to see more pianos in rock music but if they are all of this type, I'm not sure I'd really want it afterall. At least not to any abundancy.

This song is right now the most likely next #1 on my chart.

I'm with The Max on this one. It's pretty good, but nothing special.

It actually sounds retro to me like The Beatles.

Keane is awesome! play em on my rock on the radio show all the time! "Somewhere only we know" was an instant smash in my head when i first heard it!! Love it.

I love Keane, but this is my least favorite song on Hopes and Fears. It just doesn't have quite as much impact to me as their other tracks.

Agree with Mike, Nick, and Jimmy. Personal chart stats: #66 peak, 16 weeks in the top 100. It could re-enter this week, but won't make any significant impact.

For me it peaked at #34 and is currently in week 24. It's longevity is due to its slow rise and is falling kinda slow because I still like it. I just never loved it.

I think I pinpointed why I've been so slow to like it. The version I first heard sounded noticeably different than the one played on VH1, etc. The instruments were very inobtrusive, and the dominant ones were these dinky keyboards making video game-type sounds. (I think crash46 referred to it as the demo version.) That was the only version I heard for months, and I started liking it more after seeing the video for the US. I said the opposite a week ago, but this could very well become a "hit" for me after all this time.

I like it and I don't really know why, it's not like it's the type of songs that I would normally like. It's #22 on my chart on its 7th week on.

Yeah, it's alright but I'm not feeling it either. Maybe since it sounds too much like Coldplay. "Everybody's Changing" is better & I see the Travis comparisons for that one. I also heard their 3rd single (or at least their third int'l one), which I forget the name but I remeber it also being better than SOWK.

I like the song.
I asked the music director of my local pop station why the station has not added this song, and the person said it hasn't "proven itself yet". I guess they are not confident the song has mass appeal, which seems to be consistent with most of your comments.

If most stations won't add a song until it's proven itself, how do any songs get on the radio period? Where are these groundbreaking pop stations located? I've certainly never seen one.
