Think back to the time when you first heard Britney's debut single, "...Baby One More Time" on radio, MTV or wherever. Did you ever think then that she would have the kind of success that she's enjoyed so far. I thought Britney would do fairly well with the first album, but would have the sophomore jinx and struggle afterwards. Boy, was I wrong!

I thought she was annoying and I didn't like the song. I wished she would fade away. Everyone in school started loving the song, so I tried to find the someone better than Britney, which was Billie Piper and fell in love with her instead.

I remember when I first heard the song... kind of. Me and my brother were watching the video and all we heard was "Oh baby, baby." My brother said "Oh, it's some rap... thing." And he changed the channel. We both ended up loving the song.

I didn't really like it, but I eventually caved in and started really enjoying it. It was a great song with a great debut video. I figured she's have a lot of success. I really didn't start liking (or admitting I liked her) until ITZ came out. hehe.. ;)

I had heard "Baby One More Time" on the radio at least a month before the video hit MTV. I liked the song but i never knew who sang it, how they looked like, etc. Then when "Baby One More Time" debut on MTV i was shocked to learn she was only 17 years old, and i became addicted to the video. She then started annoying me after BOMT because she got too much media attention for her rollingstone covers, fake breast implants, etc. When Christina Aguilera came on the scene i was really happy that Britney had competition because hopefully they would both end up destroying each other. In a way i was right, and in a way i was wrong.---I was right because they are considered direct competition, and i was wrong because they are still here today. >:(

I remember hearing this song on the radio a few times back in late 1998 to hype the fact that she was opening up for N Sync. I thought the song was good, without knowing what she looked like. Figureing, she would have one or two hits.
Then I saw her, and I knew she would be around for a little while. She'd have 2, maybe 3 successful albums.
Britney passed those expectations. Will she be around after her greatest hits comes out? Who knows? But I think she has exceeded almost everyones expectations.

I thought she was more R&B when I started hearing the song on radio. I liked the song, and then when I heard she was 17, I figured she'd fade away quick. What amazes me the most probably, is that she has consistently put out material that is WEAKER than her first song, and she's still sticking around.
Her voice was probably stronger on that album than any other.

I figured she'd have that one hit and that would be it. I can't really think of any examples of like who. Maybe like SOAP and... who else? I dunno. Those types of artists with one minor hit and that's it.

Truth be told, I use to watch "The Box" music network where everyone can call in , pay $1.99, and they play the video you want. Well when they would play some Backstreet Boys video, they would play Baby One More Time as a bonus. After that when Britney was added herself to the purchase list, she was played ALL THE TIME, and was always at the #1 spot on the Box countdown for my area.
Now this was all before I ever heard the song on the radio or saw the video on MTV.
I hated it. I thought this chick looked like a slut and I thought the song sucked.
Then one day I heard Baby One More Time on the radio (sped up faster than the cd/video version). I was like whoa this song rocks. I didn't even realize it was the girl from The Box that I didnt like lol. From that day on my opinion changed and began to support Britney Spears.

"Ladidi Ladida"! It was such a smash, i5 remade it in 2000!Β As seen on Jenny Jones...I actually didn't see Britney until "Sometimes" came out.Β I rarely watched music videos on TV at that time.Β I was a little distracted by family issues. Β But I fell in love with her when I saw "Sometimes."Β I rushed out to buy her album with my own $14 at Borders. By 2000, I had predicted people would ask, "Britney who?"Β But she did it again!Β After her second album, I knew she'd stick around for several years. Oh, and even though I had never seen Britney until "Sometimes," I loved "Baby One More Time."Β However, when I filled out an e-mail survey from a friend, and it asked me if I liked "Britney Spears," I wrote, "Isn't she an exercise instructor?"Β

I always know that she will be big as long as she plays her cards right. And Sometimes was a good second single. Not entirely remarkable but the moment I heard Sometimes, I know that she will be hogging the limelight for the years to come.
And it's been six years. Of course, Christina is so much more talented than her (don't shoot down my opinion please) but Britney does have a couple of good pop songs in her repertoire. She totally annoyed me from 2000-2002 though.
