I just wanted to gauge what people think the top 5 songs ranging in all formats are.
This is going to require a bit of fact. It could include your opinion (because that's what the forum is all about lol).
I would like people's thoughts before I post mine.

You mean how well the songs performed or how much we like them?

Let's see... My list might change with the ideas of other's.
1. "Yeah!" ~ Usher ft. Lil' Jon and Ludacris 2. "The Reason" ~ Hoobastank 3. "This Love" ~ Maroon 5 4. "Hey Ya" ~ Outkast
I can't think of a fifth. I would put "Hey Ya" higher, but it was more of a 2003 song.

I don't want to be a copier, but I thought of those same four songs, but couldn't think of an obvious fifth so I didn't post. I also had a hesitation about "Hey Ya" for the same reason you did. I will say that I wouldn't put mainly one-format songs like "With You", "Leave", and "Toxic" in the top 5.

That's what happens when it's not really an opinion topic. One person answers, and nobody else chimes in to give the same answer. :)

You gave me choices that I thought were good, but I just wanted to know why you thought they were. Because I'd figure that there would be a difference in opinion from somebody. Everybody's giving their five, but nobody is giving reasons why.

And what I said was that you can put in your opinion. But you also said this "requires a bit of fact". Take for example Bluenote's choice of "Toxic". I can't think of a strong reason why "Toxic" is there but "With You" isn't, although personally, I would pick neither and I think "With You" has the slight upper hand anyway. That's Bluenote's opinion, but it goes against the chart facts.

That's the difference in opinion I was looking for I figured there'd be some sort of debate about it. I figured that most would pick The Reason, This Love and Yeah...and I was accurate. However, I think that cases could be made for many different songs as far as 4 and 5 go. I just wanted to see the different choices that was all

I think With You would be on there before Toxic.... What about My Immortal and Dip It Low? Not because they hit #1 but werent they played a lot on multiple formats?

I think my #5 choice is going to be "My Immortal." I think I could go with more of a rhythmic choice, however.

On the CHR/Rhythmic and Urban side, there's "Yeah!", "Burn", "Tipsy", "Freek-A-Leek" and "If I Ain't Got You."
"Slow Motion" and "Confessions Part II" are also contenders.
I would say "Tipsy" and "Burn" were both bigger hits than "My Immortal."

1.Yeah-#1 on 2 formats so far this year. Longest running #1 Billboard single. This is an obvious choice for #1.
2.This Love-#1 on Hot AC this year. #1 on pop for a few weeks this year (#2 pop so far this year), currently a top 10 AC song...almost top 20 AAA
3.The Reason-longest pop #1 this year. #2 alternative this year, top 10 Hot AC, first non-urban song in 2 years to reach top 2 of Billboard Hot 100.
4.Burn-Top 10 pop for the year, #3 Urban, potential top 15 of the year on Urban AC, #4 rhythmic for the year
5.The Way You Move-top 15 urban AC, top 15 pop of the year, top 30 urban.
Other songs to make a case for Here Without You-top 20 pop for the year, #2 Hot AC, possible top 20 for the year in AC.
First Cut is the Deepest-AC #1, Hot AC top 10, Pop top 30
If I Ain't Got You-Urban #2 for the year, Urban AC #2 for the year, currently top 10 on pop, possible top 15 rhythmic.
My Immortal-top 10 pop, top 5 Hot AC, currently top 20 AC.
Tipsy's got quite the case too. I agree BlahBlahBlah. top 10 urban, top 10 rhythmic and top 20 pop.

Wow I completely forgot about Burn. Me too, or maybe I felt guilty for putting Usher on twice.

For me, I think it would be:
#1 - David Usher - Surfacing #2 - Jason Mraz - Curbside Prophet #3 - Martina Sorbara - Casanova #4 - Kathleen Edwards - 12 Bellevue #5 - Tegan And Sara - Living Room
But since you mean actual radio airplay, I don't really have a solid opinion outside of Usher, Maroon 5 and Hoobastank.

I think my opinion is known without stating it.
If I had to pick a top 5 for the year, it would be
1. Matthew Good - Alert Status Red 2. Modest Mouse - Float On 3. Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out 4. Scissor Sisters - Take Your Mama Out 5. Metric - Combat Baby
