Can people please post any albums that they have that include the artist talking in between the songs. I just listened to R.E.M.'s Out of Time (getting prepared for the Vote for a Change tour) and noticed that one of the guys talks at the very beginning of the CD. Something about what's on the radio. Made me wonder what other albums include spoken words in between songs.
In know MB20 has Rob Thomas saying "Everyone try to play the same song, just for the sake of our sanity" right before Bent on the Mad Season CD. When I hear this line, it doesn't sound impromptu to me. Would have liked it better if it didn't sound rehearsed. More off the cuff and funny.
Can you list others that you know about?? Any commentary would be interesting too. Does it add to the album, distract, etc.
Thanks!

Britney Spears "Oops!...I Did It Again" Ashanti "Ashanti" Ashanti "Chapter II"
It takes away from all three albums. Annoying.

Prodigy "Music for the Jilted Generation" has one of the better interludes I've heard.
Before "Poison" starts, you can hear the phone ring. Someone picks it up then says "Liam, it's for you". To which Liam HOwlett responds "For f$%@'s sake man, I'm trying to write this f$%#in tune!"

One that comes to mind is Matthew Good's Loser Anthems EP.
The beginning of Flashdance II is greatness.

Shortest piece of talking on an album ever:
Kyuss - Welcome to Sky Valley
The very last thing you hear on the album is John Garcia saying "Yeah". It is even counted as a separate track!

Yes, that's a great moment in rock and roll period, and that reminds me.
Queens Of the Stone Age - Songs For the Deaf.
"I'm not saying good night....just sayin..."

I hate any sort of interlude, intro, or outro on albums.

Tool - Ænima ("Message to Harry Manback" and the german "Die Eier vor Satan". Helps kind of because you need a break to stop between the tracks sometime.) The Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream (last 30 seconds of "Spaceboy" and a sentence on "Silverf**k") The Smashing Pumpkins - MACHINA/The Machines of God (The middle of "Glass + The Ghost Children", with two minutes of talking. Weird tape sound.) Radiohead - OK Computer ("Fitter Happier". Haha)

How the hell could I forget Fitter, Happier?
OK Computer is hands down the best cd there is in my personal opinion.
That and yeah, those examples from Tool and the Smashing Pumpkins. Those are greatness.
I should also mention from At the Drive In's Relationship Of Command cd, at the beginning of Enfilade, the phone conversation about the ransom.
Also on the Manic Street Preachers' Know Your Enemy cd, on Ocean Spray, the beginning and near the end, the interview in japanese.

I hate any sort of interlude, intro, or outro on albums. As do I. It ruins the CDs continuity. Especially when the talking tracks make no sense like on D12's CD and stuff. Intros and outros aren't that bad as long as they are actually worth something and not just crap talking and stuff.

Tom Petty's Full Moon Fever CD has a funny spoken part by Tom (with some bizarre sounds in the background) just before track 6:
Hello CD listeners. We've come to the point in this album where those listening on cassette or records will have to stand up or sit down and turn over the record. Or tape. In fairness to those listeners we'll now take a few seconds before we begin side two. (very brief pause) Thank you. Here's side two.

The ones on Missy Elliott's albums are annoying because they're soooo long and once you've heard them once you never want to hear them again.
I like most of Janet's interludes - they're pretty short and worth hearing again. The ones from the janet. and THe Velvet Rope albums in particular.
