April 3rd, second single from Extreme Behavior. This would be their slow song of the album, I guess.
I think this band is okay, certainly at least one of the better radio-rock bands of last year, but I'll say this: their spot on the Girls Gone Wild tour made perfect sense, if you catch my drift.

There are several songs on that album that I would rather see as singles besides that song.

You're right about the GGW tour However, their show at Starland Ballroom that I saw was unfortunately disappointing. Maybe it was an off night. This song I think has potential to do better than Get Stoned although, I think it'll fall short.

I've avoided this like the plague after hearing "Get Stoned" way too many times. This is going for pop adds now, so I don't know how much longer I'll be successful. :-\

Get Stoned did absolutely nothing on Pop, and I doubt this will either.
I got tired of Get Stoned by the second listen.

Get Stoned did absolutely nothing on Pop, and I doubt this will either. It actually went for adds at Pop? I wasn't aware of that, and wow that kind of surprises me. I wouldn't expect it to do too well since I'm sure many parents of typical teenybopper crowd wouldn't be too satisfied with their kid listening to a song called "Get Stoned" on the radio, but then again its just as bad of a message as half of the other crap you hear on Pop stations these days anyway.

This is a potiential female pop record. This song is verrrry catchy and a knockout ballad, forget the lyrics for a minute.

It went for adds sometime in March. The pop edit had the word "stoned" reversed. Very odd to listen to.

What would the point of that be if it's in the friggin' title?
Anyway, I finally heard this this morning with no distraction whatsoever.
Yeah, f**k this song and f**k this band.

"Get Denots." Okaaaay.
I remember going on record as saying there was nothing wrong with "Get Stoned" musically, but it was definitely one of the worst songs, lyrically, of the year. (Nothing's probably going to top "Beep" by the Pussycat Dolls, though, in terms of atrocious lyrics.) As such, the lyrics left way more of an impact than the music, and I thought it was crap. So, I suppose if this is a serious attempt as a decent song, I could really like it. But I'm highly doubting that'll be the case.

Actually, I'm not sure if they reversed it or what. It sounded like "Get Fwaaaah". Heck, maybe the record company got them to sing "Get Fwaaaah".

Things are looking good for this and its actually doing good on Pop as well.
I don't hate it as much as the last single, its just a silly song overall. The part where he says "its really good to hear your voice, it sounds so sweet" sounds stupid coming from a manly voice. Very sissy.

I think I may have commented on this in another topic, but I agree that the lyrics are atrocious. You never say "girl" before saying something else in a song and expect to have rock credibility, hands down. The first ten times I recognized the intro, I changed the station. Then I listened to the lyrics, and realized what it's about. The ending is so drawn out, it's unbelievable. I'll pick this over "Get Stoned" any day. What the hell does a song like "Get Stoned" mean, anyway?

I don't need to split hairs and try and figure out which single of theirs is worse because I think Hinder may very well have the two worst rock songs of the year thus far. We'll see how I feel again once "Lips" dies down some.

I really don't know why everybody thinks this is such a bad song. I think this song clearly doesn't take itself too seriously and is just meant to be a throwback to good old cheesy 80's power ballads. I didn't like the song initially but after thinking about it in that respect, I've come to really enjoy it.

I can't take it and I can't take the hype it's getting from CHR/POP plays.

I don't understand the appeal of this song.

Yes, but the Peppers are quite a different band than many others. If you think about a band like Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, STP, or NIN using "girl" as the antecedent (whatever), then it strikes a wrong nerve. It just doesn't sound right. In contrast, I really believe the Chili Peppers have that novelty quality that has made them so great over the years (maybe similar to the Beasties or, hell, maybe even Green Day). Add that to the fact that the Chilis really do sound vintage, whereas some of these new bands like Hinder and virtually every band post-1990 using it just sounds contrived.

You only said "rock credibility" in your original statement. You didn't qualify it otherwise. And while you never said anything about "love songs," either (and Alice in Chains, off the top of my head, never had any obvious love songs), I'm sure Pearl Jam and STP have used "girl" in the general way you state, and while I don't recall any NIN lyrics addressed to a "girl," it wouldn't have sounded out of place on Pretty Hate Machine.
