That's from a press release. I don't trust press releases. You wouldn't happen to have a link to that release, would you? The only one I've read is the one on their official site. Thanks. :)

Thanks. :) Unfortunately, I don't remember where I originally saw it, but it was not there. I don't think it was originally on SMNNews either, although I do pop in on that site from time to time and they were Ultimate Guitar's source on that story. I thought it might've been MTV, but I can't find it there. I will say this though. It does not sound like an article a news site would normally write. That article is far too overpositive and promotional of the band to be anything but something sent out in advance. If it were an interview, a review, anything but a regular news posting, that would be different, but it is my experience that any news article that leans that far into advertising is either label-made or the work of a poor site, and I have enough respect for SMNNews to believe they would not do that, especially since they lean toward heavy metal fans and largely hate Evanescence anyway. Here's the SMNNews posting. You be the judge.

I think the source penance can't remember is the blurb about the new album in the current issue of Rolling Stone. (Eddie Vedder on the cover.)

Track 3 could be a Saliva, All Parallels, or Split Shift cover. Track 5 could be Puddle Of Mudd or Bob Marley. Track 8 could also be Custom, 9 also Ash, and 10 also Ra and Limp Bizkit. 11 could be All-American Rejects. 13 could be Hoobastank or Mudhoney. My point is that yes, it is a dumb joke. They're Evanescence, not Evergreen Terrace.

The first single has been produced by DJ Lethal. For those who want to listen to their catalog before Fallen, you can here it at the website below: evanescencereference.info/music/

I'll divide those into titles I really like or love: (tracks 3, 5, 6, 7) ...and titles that are either ripoffs or bland: (tracks 1, 2, 4, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13)

Titles are ridiculous things nowadays, to be honest. They're either done a billion times before, they're meaningless, they're long and unwieldy in an attempt to avoid the former two, and some of them have nothing at all to do with the song. Titles should be, in my opinion, a summary of the song's content. A title can reflect the direction of a song, but I also recognize that a title does not reveal the quality of the song. These titles, for the most part, speak volumes about their content, but not anything about how good or bad they are. Good for Evanescence. I'd rather have a title that's cliche and know what it means than some fifteen word quote from an obscure movie. I'm looking in your direction, Panic At The Disco.

Anyway, this is not the first time an Evanescence member has left months before an album's been released. In December of 2002, months before Fallen's release, David Hodges who helped record Origin with the band left. He'd had singing parts in the music but after he left, they were somewhat muted out like in My Immortal. Hodges went on to form the band Trading Yesterday, whose One Day is on the Stealth soundtrack.

Barring the leak of the single, the song will debut on radio on August 2nd.

Not dissapointed. But it sounds too girly to do anything on the rock charts and there isn't really a strong hook.

Maybe rock charts can embrace the song... when is the radio date of the song?

It's not a bad song, but I doubt it'll have much staying power on either the Alternative or Active Rock formats.
Having said that, I don't think this is the song that will help them elude the sophomore slump. They're going to need a real mainstream hit if they're ever going to begin their drive to even coming close to the sextuple-platinum numbers of "Fallen".
Sincerely, Noah Eaton
