I'm interested to hear everyone's take on this...Not many stations that I listen to play album cuts from modern artists. Thanks.
Of course, the question should be "Would YOU listen to a radio station that plays 2 or 3 album cuts per hour?"

I wouldn't mind album tracks once in a while but because there are so many new CDs out, it would be tough to pick random songs to play and not play favourites unless the station picked their favourites to play from select current hit albums, which tends to happen anyway.

Our station plays a lot of album cuts from older artists, but none from newer artists. So, yeah.

I wouldn't mind a station playing album cuts but as long as they announce it. It'd just be confusing hearing like 3 songs from the same artist thinking they're all singles, when they're not. Sirius, yes, I'm talking to you... I guess my vote would be somewhere in between both choices... EDIT: Hah, I didn't answer the question. Typical of my Alzheimer's ass. Yeah, sure, I'd listen to the station. Like I said, it wouldn't bother me as long as they announce it. And, also, they shouldn't make it a habit either.

Album cuts are okay as long as there are no foul languages involved.

I think 3 times an hour would be too much...Maybe a feature during the day that once an hour there'd be a "double shot" as in back to back of the artists. For example: Vanessa Carlton's "White Houses" followed by "Who's To Say." Just something like that maybe for the hours between noon and midnight. Damn that'd be awesome.

Well, there used to be a lot of stations that did that. It was called Album-Oriente Rock Radio or Progressive Rock Radio, led by WNEW-FM in New York and its late program director/afternoon deejay Scott Muni.
Only college stations pretty much use that format anymore (WNEW-FM ended its run as a rock station in 2000), although I hear there is a relatively new "Indie" station in Los Angeles.

I voted yes, but only when the artist doesn't have a current single out..you wouldn't want to ruin the chart run of an official single by playing album cuts. But after the singles are peaked, why not?

It depends on the format, in most instances.
The days of CHR/Pop stations playing such lengthy album cuts as Elton John's 11-minute epic 'Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding' or Led Zeppelin's hefty 'Stairway To Heaven' are long gone.
Snooth Jazz & Country stations can certainly play album cuts, assuming the PD has enough faith in his or her own gut feelings to know what will and won't work on his or her station.
That also applies to Rock, Hot AC, Alternative, and just about any other adult-oriented format out there with the exception of the AC format, which have pretty wide (if somewhat overresearched and conservative) playlists to begin with.

Our station doesn't think twice about playing 11 minute long songs.

No, I'd rather just hear the hits.

i voted yes cause sometimes album cuts are better than the current singles and if your not sure about someone's album then they help you decide, i dont think they should overdo it though but i like how it is right now!

KAOI/Maui which used to be an album rock station, played 20 minutes of a certain artist, numerous songs were non-singles. I miss that.

Power 96 in Miami (rhythmic) is notorious for just picking up random album tracks and playing them as if they were singles. Most of the songs they play are hits, but it's nice to see something mixed in.

Absolutely. Record companies are very stupid sometimes with their single choice
