If this does not go straight to #1, there is no God.

If this does not go straight to #1, there is no God. I'm with you. This deserves to go straight to the top. However the lords of Alternative radio known as the "program directors across America" may not agree with us and might have to fart in our faces. There may be a war coming soon, so lets just wait and see.

I'm not a big fan of the beginning, but the rest of the song is really good.

It's ok, but it still doesn't change my opinion on the performance. For the pomp and circumstance that it was, the actual performance that was was not good.

The HQ? The Headquarters? The secret underground MCR Headquarters thousands of miles below the Earth's crust or beneath the floor of the ocean or miles above the planet in space or maybe just in the Grand Canyon where everyone can see it? I dare someone to get that reference. What the? ??? I meant High Quality version of the song, or CD version.

Their VMA performance was terrible. Bottom line...this band has a leader with a lot of charisma and a backstory that connected with the kids. This band does not have the singing ability, songwriting ability, or musicianship to become a serious band. It just isn't there. With that said, I'm sure they will continue to have success with the kids but probably won't be able to mature with their audience.

I was curious, so I took a look back at your posting record, and I noticed you seem to spend a lot of time talking about artists on Hot AC stations. I personally don't see what some of those acts could possibly have over My Chemical Romance. I think MCR is far more talented and enjoyable, and they write better lyrics than much of what that is spread across Hot AC. This is all personal opinion, but the question I'm getting to is what exactly would you consider to be a serious band that matures with their audience. It's hard to know where you're coming from on this when all I have to go on is Jewel, Dixie Chicks, and Pink.

It's hard to know where you're coming from on this when all I have to go on is Jewel, Dixie Chicks, and Pink. lol! Thanks for going back and analyzing my posting history. Honestly, I'm an old classic rock fan. I really don't see much longevity for the new bands coming out today. For the most part, the talent really isn't there. When the hype dies down, there isn't much left to support them. I'm not a big Coldplay fan but they are probably one of the few bands that have blown up in the past 5-7 years that will still be around in another 10 if they choose to be. Also, I do tend to favor singer/songerwriters. Oh yeah, I do tend to favor HotAC artists. BTW, I saw MCR open up for GD. I wasn't impressed but the kids seemed to love them. Again, they will continue to have success as long as they connect with the kids. But then again, I might be wrong. I didn't think GD had what it took either, but Billie Joe matured into a much better writer and is actually an okay singer.

PS - Jewel has some talent. She can actually write and sing. I'm not a Dixie Chicks fan and I don't care much for Pink, either.

I think looking at posting histories can be kind of inaccurate. Looking at mine, I dont think anyone would guess that most of the songs on my Ipod are rock songs, most of the cds I buy are rock cds, and...well, ok I do listen to some pop stations, but more often I listen to the rock and alternative stations. It just seems like this is a more pop (or popular) board, so I dont talk about my rock love as much. Kind of offtopic, but Ive had posters here say stuff like, well you listen to Christina so therefore you dont like or know rock music!!! And I always find that amusing because I find rock or alternative types of music to be the core of what I listen to, what I buy, and what I go to see in concert.
Anyways! This song is growing on me with every listen. It would be cool if this era could develop their career a bit more-obviously they have had success, but I often see them written off as a trendy "fake" kiddy band who sing whoa is me type songs to connect with the kiddies.

Well I wasn't trying to suggest that liking pop music makes someone less of a reference toward rock music, but I do think that someone who has their heart in pop music maybe would be less likely to enjoy certain kinds of rock. I would not expect someone who likes Jewel to like a band like say Disturbed or even Seether and Shinedown. Coldplay on the other hand does not surprise me in the least, or any kind of rock band that crosses over to Hot AC.
However, I do see and understand the point that posting history can be more or less meaningless as a point of debate for discussions such as these. It is true that just because someone hovers around a certain board doesn't mean that it encompasses the entire range of their tastes. It is also true that sometimes people can be surprising and enjoy something unexpected, and it's also true that posting in a topic is not a sign of interest all of the time.
This all taken in mind, I still think that someone's posting record can be an accurate starting point of reference for seeing where someone stands. I don't think I'm wrong to assume that a poster who hovers around pop would not enjoy something heavy or screamy, just like I don't think a metal poster would enjoy something light and melodramatic.
Back on point, Rumors, since you keep referring to "the kids", am I correct in assuming that you're a fair bit older than myself? I'm 23 and I think that MCR is a great band, and there are quite a few people I know that feel the same. I think it's wrong to assume that kids are the only ones that are into MCR, unless of course you are much older and feel that people my age would still be considered "kids" in the relative sense. Although honestly and no offense, I would find that more than a little annoying.

I liked your post. I would have thought from your posts that you were mainly a pop music fan. Anyway, the comment above is very true and I guess summarizes my feelings on many of today's bands. Our culture is so geared around the "what have you done for me today" mentality that even if a new band had some talent they probably won't get the big push on three or four records needed in order to become a career artist. Career bands are becoming more and more rare these days.

Penance, I'll just say that I am a little older than 23. LOL! I have always loved music and do enjoy reading a post here and there on this board. Thanks for your comments. Let's just leave it at you'll continue to enjoy MCR while I'll go listen to some Fleetwood Mac or Rob Thomas!!! Take care!

I know I'm late on this but the Dixie Chicks do have talent and their meaner than ever before with their amazing single and video for "Not Ready To Make Nice". The video is even kinda gawthic, MCR would be really jealous.

their meaner than ever before There's one reason and one reason alone why I'm quoting this, and that's because I would pay good money to see the Dixie Chicks wrestle. I think they would make a good tag team act. Y'know, like the Wolfpac, but without the drama.

Well, I do think this will post a similar chart run to, say, "Vicarious" or "Schism" from Tool, but might struggle to go to #1. There are still a few stations hesitant to play a 6-minute single longer than any other 3 1/2-minute one on their playlist, so we'll see.
Returning artists like Audioslave and the Killers haven't really come too close to that position, and Evanescence have really stabilized in the lower top 10, so I'll predict maybe #3.
And I think it's safe to say no other punk band has had any more influence on today's bands than Green Day.
