The unknown first single from their fifth album Light Grenades, due in stores in late November. I know, I know - I'm cheating. But I am absolutely psyched for this upcoming album from probably my second favorite band of all time. This unknown single is my most anticipated single of '06, this side of Pearl Jam.
It's supposed to be harder than their last two albums. According to Boyd, "it kicks, it bites, it loves, it hurts. It's the closest we've ever come to being the band we want to be." (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds35551.html)
The tracklist hasn't been finalized, but I'll try to post it as soon as I get word. My guess is we'll be hearing this by late September at the latest. New Incubus. Get stoked.

(http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds35551.html) They said something along the lines of it sounding like "13 different songs by 13 different bands", so I can only guess this will mean there will be both hard and soft songs on here. I'm all for a diverse album, but I hope they made some effort to make the album as a whole flow well. I think the last two albums were a little weak in the department.. Nevertheless, Incubus is also one of my all-time favorite bands. I'm not as obsessive over them as I was a few years ago, but I'm still excited to hear what they have in store this time around.

They said one song sounded like an R&B song but they made it a little more rockin because before they did they said it didn't sound like them at all.
I really appreciate Incubus' attempts to branch out with their sound and do spontaneous things. I've come to expect that from them. It took me a bit to get into A Crow Left Of The Murder but I've since grown to love it, and I hope that this new one is just as creative and freethinking.

Warning is okay though.

Incubus is one of my favorites. I don't know what it is about these guys that I can't get enough of. Warning, Nice To Know You....even ACLOTM was good even though it took me a while to get into it. I can't wait for new music.

I'm sure this will be one of my favorite albums of the year no matter what it sounds like. Incubus is definitely in my Top 20 list of favorite bands. I'd rather see them make an album of some of their old sound before they became huge when Make Yourself came out, but also some slower/funky Morning View material as well.

I'd rather see them make an album of some of their old sound before they became huge when Make Yourself came out, This I hear a lot from people, and it bothers me, because honestly I think Incubus has developed and grown a lot more since SCIENCE. SCIENCE is a great album and all, but if you compare it to the three following albums, it gets very lacking both in creativity and diversity. Before Make Yourself and perhaps not even until before Morning View, Incubus was considered to be a plain nu-metal band, and listening to SCIENCE, it's not hard to see why. Now, I'm a big fan of nu-metal and I also have a deep love for loud music, but I also can see where a band does their best, and Incubus is far superior when they're experimenting with funk and melodic rock than when they're trying to be loud and heavy. They can make great hard rock songs, but I'd rather they do something a little more constructive with their albums than beat out the same sounds that a hundred other bands already do. Incubus is better than that.

Here's the article confirming all this info. The single will hit radio sometime in October - I'm sure we'll know the exact adds date soon enough. I can't wait!

Before Make Yourself and perhaps not even until before Morning View, Incubus was considered to be a plain nu-metal band, and listening to SCIENCE, it's not hard to see why. I would hardly say that SCIENCE is "plain nu-metal". There are also a lot of funk and jazz elements, plus the songs are a lot more melodic and lyrically creative than the vast majority of nu-metal. And a few songs, like "Summer Romance (Anti-Gravity Love Song)" can't be considered nu-metal at all. As a matter of fact, I do think SCIENCE is their best album - not because of how it sounds, but because it's their most consistent and cohesive album, and has the best balance between strong songwriting and musical creativity. Make Yourself is a close second, and in fact is a bit stronger songwriting-wise than SCIENCE, but it's not as quite musically diverse and interesting as SCIENCE. Morning View is a good album, but is not as cohesive and consistent as the previous two, and Crow just sounds really misguided to me.

I disagree about the "vast majority of nu-metal comment, but that's a discussion for another time and place. There are some songs on SCIENCE that are different, I agree, and Summer Romance is one of them, as well as Magic Medicine. However, you can't tell me that songs like A Certain Shade Of Green, Favorite Things, Idiot Box, Glass, and Vitamin don't fall under that particular genre label. Crossgenre influence there may be, but the same holds true for a lot of other nu-metal groups as well. We also must have different definitions of diverse because I think SCIENCE is their least diverse album and Crow their most, because of the variety in overall sound. There's a lot more going on in their later albums and I can't really say any of the songs especially sound like each other. SCIENCE, I can.

I would agree that Crow is a diverse album, perhaps even their most diverse, but I just feel that most of the experiments don't work on that album. "Sick Sad Little World" is excellent, but other than that, I feel that the best songs on the album are the ones that could've fit on Make Yourself or Morning View, and even those songs are missing something.

"Sick Sad Little World" is excellent, but other than that, I feel that the best songs on the album are the ones that could've fit on Make Yourself or Morning View, and even those songs are missing something. The album is quite admirable for its musical experimentations and such, and I enjoyed it over all. The main problem with "A Crow Left Of The Murder" was that it was an uneven-sounding album, where some risks were more rewarding than others. Some shine like "Sick Sad Little World" and "Zee Deveel", but others just feel a bit "off", like "Precious" and "Pistola". So in a way "A Crow Left Of The Murder" sounds more like a collection of ambitious B-sides wen you really delve into the artistic depth of it, rather than a cohesive album. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Goes for adds October 16th. I may be one of the few on here who absolutely loved "Make A Move", but I will keep that date in mind. Oh, and did I mention - look for a big debut on my personal chart? I think somebody may have missed that one...so I thought I'd re-emphasize by just... throwing it out there.

I may be one of the few on here who absolutely loved "Make A Move" I absolutely LOVE both Make a Move and Talk Show On Mute, and none of my friends have ever even heard either the damn songs, even the ones who used to like Incubus... and I never really liked anything Incubus did until those two songs *shrug*

On the right section of the screen, there is a link to a Windows Media download, but it says I need a soundcard with speakers or headphones.
I'm actually looking forward to listening to this firsthand on my radio station its first day of adds. It was the first two times I listened to "World Wide Suicide" (on the radio). It gets me a little more excited that way, knowing probably thousands of other people are listening.
It likely won't be available on their myspace until adds day, anyway.

Well, now that the song's readily available in some form, I think it'll probably end up getting airplay well before the adds day, unless the label gets in the way of that.

Apparently the song has been taken down. I get the feeling that it wasn't supposed to have been released. But hey, I paid for it...
I'm really impressed with this song. It seems like they're continuing with the stylistic direction they started on ACLOTM, but IMHO, this song is more well-written and flows more naturally than anything on that album. I do wonder how well radio will receive it though, as it's really different from any of their other singles, and doesn't sound much like anything else currently on the radio either.

I rate this song with a B+.
I have no idea where the title comes from. It sounds like the name of some doll from the 70s.
