Did someone just try to suggest that selling albums somehow denotes quality of product?
LOL

No, I'm not saying exactly that but I don't think people that bought their album are stupid or just not informed well..
So, I'm asking, if Nickelback isn't original then tell me one from this decade or from the late 90's who is..

Tell me how Nickelback is original & I'll tell you 5 ways they aren't; I'll also list as many bands as I feel like that are. You go first.

Is this your way of saying you have no basis for argument? ;)
Fine, I'll go.
- The majority of their songs sound reasonably identical - the same chord progressions are used song and after song. - Their melodies are uninspired; their "best" song was "How You Remind Me", because at least it had a more dynamic melodic structure. - Like many post-grunge acts, they are doing what Bush & Candlebox did in the 90's, only a decade later. Copycats copying copycats. The lousy cycle of mediocrity continues. - Their presentation is flat. Absolutely no charisma. There's nothing "there" that screams "THAT'S NICKELBACK! UNMISTAKABLY!" - We've been sentenced to listen to even less tolerable acts, because of Nickelback's success, ad nauseum. They are the ringleaders of the faceless nu-grunge generation. Great.
Now, bands that (IMO & the opinions of many others) are original - meaning they do the unexpected, defy current conventions, and are distinct in their existence as a musical entity. You don't even have to look too far: M.I.A. Goldfrapp Ladytron Gogol Bordello Thom Yorke Cat Power Neko Case TV On The Radio CSS The Knife Brazilian Girls Camera Obscura Yeah Yeah Yeahs The Black Angels Spank Rock Mew The Go! Team
Hell, I'll stop there, but that doesn't even scratch the surface. And none of those acts are particularly obscure or out of radio's reach. Obviously, you can find creativity anywhere without having to look too deeply.

I can't believe you all say this, why? Because of Someday or because of something else, Photograph, Far Away was unispired?, or Animals or If Everyone Cared? I don't remember a song of them in the past that sounded like that.
What's definition of original for you? Who's rating charisma, and what creativity for you means
"Now, bands that (IMO & the opinions of many others) are original - meaning they do the unexpected"
What was that? Who actually expect or thought this band could release songs like Animals, or If Everyone Cared or Far Away their only love-song...
Nothing against you but please, you all saying too much about other artists who are doing almost the same thing (Not only rock artists). and you almost all buring this band without any particular reason.

Are you trying to suggest that releasing a slower, "downbeat" rock ballad is somehow a breakthrough accomplishment?
And I'm not sure what you said exactly, but somehow you implied that the acts I listed are guilty of Nickelback's offenses, and I'm sorry, but you can't really make that claim. Try to tell me how any of those acts is generic in any way. I beg you.

Wow, this is sooooo stupid I don't know where to start. And I like Nickelback too, but no they are not original in any way, and yeah, they do tend to reuse ideas in their songs. Originality comes from being different, not popular.

Who actually expect or thought this band could release songs like Animals, or If Everyone Cared or Far Away their only love-song... I might make this my new signature, just because it's so funny. And finally, because it was what started this spiral into idiocy, I feel I should point out for the ten or so people who still haven't picked up on it that American Idiot and I know each other. Heck, we even share an apartment with his insane friend. I think I am well within my rights to give him a hard time.

I don't think that's too funny but it's definetely what you don't want to hear and accept, if that's the way you like to criticize some facts then change it

Where have you been for the past twenty years? You think Nickelback is the first rock band ever to write a love song? I don't know what your argument is, but it seems to me that you're the one operating in a fog.

Actually before 20 years I was nowhere!! , and NOOOOOOOOOOO, I'm not saying that Nickelback is the first rock band to write a love song, but in here I found many members that at least with Far Away took back all the bad things they said about this band, and believe me my eyes are good

Wow. What the hell happened here overnight? Damn me for comparing Hinder to Nickelback. I'll admit that I'm a fan of them, but I wouldn't even put them in my Top 50 or maybe 100. In response to what Canadian bands do I think are better than them, there are quite a few I can think of.
Hot Hot Heat Sum 41 Billy Talent Three Days Grace Our Lady Peace Thousand Foot Krutch Finger Eleven Barenaked Ladies
