Supposedly this was not only confirmed as the next single by the band's manager, but is also named specifically on a promotional sticker on the album along with current single "Anna-Molly". I don't know the accuracy of either evidencial (is that a word?) statement, but I do agree with this choice.
I also think "A Kiss To Send Us Off" should be the third single, but if the part about the promo sticker is true, then "Love Hurts" is listed as the third song on the sticker. Of course, we all know that things never pan out as planned. I'm sure if enough people rally for "Kiss", then they'll put it out there.

Is their album out this week? I'll have to check out this song. I only own one Incubus album but they're a band that, if they ever put out a compilation CD (GHs, Best Of, etc), I'd probably get it.

perfect radio friendly tune. After Anna molly, the next best song on the album so IMO it makes sense to go with this as the 2nd single

So I'm guessing it doesn't sound like the Mudvayne song of the same name then?

I'm guessing that they put both songs on the sticker because a) they've narrowed it down to those two songs and haven't decided which one yet, b) because they plan to release both songs eventually, and/or c) because both are on the band's MySpace. I'd have to say that releasing those two songs back-to-back would be a big mistake, and I agree that "Kiss" should be third.

This is a good choice. One of my favorites off the album. And I also agree that "A Kiss To Send Us Off" should be third. That song really stood out to me. It's my favorite off the album.

I bought the album today, and "Love Hurts" is actually listed second (after "Anna Molly") on the sticker. And I couldn't find a post by their manager on the Incubus Online-View board saying that "Dig" was the second single. So I think it's still up in the air.

Band manager Steve Rennie has also specified that the video for "Dig" is likely to be fan-made.

As I've said before in the Anna Molly thread, I'd rather have a harder song like A Kiss To Send Us Off or Light Grenades for a single, but this is alright. It should do fairly well. I just hope a more rocking song is the third choice to show that Incubus is still capable of their old sound.

I agree the third single should be a heavy song. since Anna-Molly is one of the heavier songs on the album, it wouldnt be wise to put 2 heavy songs back to back. they should have heavy, mellow, heavy again. hopefully they follow that.

Now I'm pulling for "Rogues" to be the third single, but "A Kiss..." would be a good choice too, or even the title track if they want to be a little daring.

Don't have the album, so I went to hear this song on their MySpace page, and I like it more than "Anna Molly" on first listen. I agree with the poster above who said it's a "perfect radio friendly tune."

They were bound to release a dud eventually... but it hasn't happened yet. :) Keep 'em coming, Incubus.
Don't think this is going to Pop though, since they didn't even bother with "Anna Molly".

The Best Choice For a Single that they couldve made...Hopefully it becomes a #1 Modern Rock Hit I bet it'll pop onto the Hot AC pretty soon. Incidently just about every majour rock/alterantive that has made my Top Ten has shifted to Pop or Hot AC and became a huge hit. So far this has peaked at #2 on my personal charts. It is currently at #3 with a bullet.

When will this go for CHR/Pop adds? Incubus deserve to finally deserve a crossover to follow-up "Drive", which was a pop hit in the summer of '01. Kind of ridiculous that "Warning" or "Talk Shows..." couldn't score that. The chorus in this song is just too epic, in a catchy, radio-friendly way, to pass up.

If I'm not mistaken, the song had an adds date sometime last month. I agree with you, but pop stations are very fickle and forget everything. You almost never hear those songs on pop radio anymore.

Suddenly, after a moderately sharp plunge in weekly spins over the past three weeks, it's looking very likely "Dig" will re-gain a slight bullet entering the weekend.
It's now sitting at #12 with an insignificant -12 in net spins, with a notably high audience of 5.3 million in its range.
Quite an interesting turn-around here. It's hard to say whether it's slow current rise at Hot AC may have something to do with it; cultivating hopes for the label to push a more earnest wider release of this track to Mainstream Top 40.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton
